Mikkel Kessler To Be Part of The World Boxing Super Series

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Peter Norrelund, CEO for MTG Sports and a member of the Board at World Boxing Super Series, has told Danish paper Ekstrabladet that is has been decided to give Mikkel Kessler one of the Wild Cards - and he is thus on for the WBSS Tournament.

Kessler, 46-3, has been training for his comeback for a few months now.

Groves is in. I don't know if any others are confirmed at 168 yet.

A bit daft choosing a winner if we don't know who's fighting

Callum Smith will join if Anthony Dirrell joins according to Eddie. DeGale is injured so he wont be a part.

I imagine Sauerland will enter Zeuge as well.

So:

Kessler
Groves
Zeuge
Dirrell
Smith

Not a great division for tournament.

There was talk of J'Leon Love vs Rocky Fielding a little while back, but seems to have gone quite since.
Maybe both fighters have an eye on this tournament.

Nah. They cant go that low. Might as well stick Paul Smith in there. Abraham could be a possibility if he beats Eubank.

I wouldn't write off the idea, Super middle is a decent division but not overly deep. With Jack moving up, Degale Injured and Abraham on his way down they will likely have to pack the tournament out with a couple sub standard guys.

Where's Ramirez? If he entered he would be among the favourites.

Getting Ramirez would be a coup. Arum might even agree to it because Schaefer is offering big money if you believe it.

I think the best guys in the division are too young and fresh for Kessler now.

The best thing about the super six was it unearthed a couple of good fighters that were unknowns. Dirrell, although his career is plaqued by controversy. But he fought really well vs Froch away from home. And obviously Andre ward has gone on to be a huge fighter

Hopefully any new tournament could do the same

Zeuge is reported to be skipping it. Ramirez and Benavides would be two great additions. Jacobs moving up would make it an extremely interesting group.

Kessler refused a wildcard to the tournament monts ago. he will not participate. He wont jump straight into facing top dog after a four year layoff. which is probaply a smart move !

Zeague won't enter. He wants to rematch Epko.

Apparently Erik Skoglund is in, and Shawn Cox is about to enter... both no big names, but both unbeaten, willing to prove themselves.
