joe strong wrote:So how come nobody brings up Evander Holyfield? He was a dirty fighter like Ward. Nobody in the history of boxing could get away with a blatant headbutt better than Holyfield. He could time a punch almost simultaneously following a headbutt & get away with it in front of the referee. Look at the Rahman eliminator or the Tyson fights. I can't think of any headbutt he got warned for off hand. I can't recall if he got any in the Tyson fights as it has been many years since I watched those fights. His head was an effective weapon & it got his opponents off their game plans because they had to be aware of it...
He's brought about from time to time. But if we are being honest, that aside, he was a beloved figure in boxing. Ward is not. So, it's much easier to pin hate on Ward and condemn him. Evander, even though he butted, had a very fan pleasing style and personality. Ward has neither, plus he's dirty.

Ward is far dirtier than golota . Golota was a moron that haphazzardly threw low blows. Ward is a genius that uses every trick in and out of the book. He is so well schooled in dirty inside fighting and use of the head and elbows by virgil hunter that most of his fouls go under the radar. He is one of the dirtiest fighters of all time yet rarely gets penalised because he is one of the smartest fighters of all time. Kovalev looked like a complete novice compared to ward when they boxed inside

If Ward is such a dirty fighter, why didn't he hit an unprotected Kovalev earlier in the 8th round where he wasn't defending himself? Ward hit him with two legal body blows, Kovalev tried to fake them as low blows, and just stood there. Ward waited until instructed by the ref. It would have been 100% legal if Ward would have hit Kovalev.

Anybody that honestly thinks Ward is dirtier than Golota just shows the terrible bias on this forum.

Lets get this straight im a massive ward fan and also a pro boxing trainer. And have taught many of the lets say rough tacticts that andre uses. There is no bias here. I appreciate exactly how ward bends and breaks the rules because he is a master at it. Its a long lost part of boxing that should be admired

Yep, from before the days when the Marquis of Queensbury rules were created in 1865-67 and boxing was made into a legitimate sport.

Hahaaa yes i agree . But at the end of the day pro boxing is a FIGHT and you must use everything you can to win. Ward uses his head his elbows and low blows because he is very subtle with these so called fouls and gets away with them . Miguel cotto is an expert at kneeing his opponent in the leg . But nobody picks up on this because he is so good at it

This one was much worse though, brother, because the referee was in on the action. Las Vegas. Nuff said.

i agree 100%. Cant believe kovalevs team allowed an american to referee a yank v a russian in AMERICA. Kovalev has a bunch of idiots around him in and out of the gym. Whereas ward has got a very proffessional team around him. And it was the difference

But why train so extensively on dirty tactics. Obviously, it doesn't fly under everyone's radar because people know that Ward is a cheat. If everyone trained using dirty tactics like Ward did, he probably wouldn't be so special. Nothing pretty or honorable about what he does. Just tells me that he believes he doesn't possess the fundamentals to compete successfully at the highest professional level.I suppose he's interesting for certain specialist, such as yourself, to watch. But, for the majority, he stinks up the joint.

So your problem is actually with Team Krushedner. Team SOGgy simply kicked their ass. :salut:

Did Golota land low blows in any fight besides the two with Riddick Bowe?

You do understand that fighters like Ward are not good for the health of the sport, right?

If he was pulling massive numbers because of his style and tactics, more power to him. But, he's not. There's only a select type of people who applaud what he does.

I really did not like SOGgy a year ago. Now he is one of my favorite fighters. The monumental whining about the first fight was absolutely pathetic. SOGgy had zero control over the judging. He boxed a brilliant fight, coming back from the precipice to earn a razor close decision.

He was spit on by Krushedner and his fans and those who dislike his style. He was called every name in the book including coward over and over and over again. He was told by Krushedner that the Russian would end his career.

Guess what? SOGgy showed up with a chip on his shoulder and Krushedner and his fans were treated to a good ole Oakland ass whooping.

I doubt that Krushedner talks as much bully sh!t in the future, because nobody is going to be listening.

Holding is a skill that you use when you can not box as well as your opponent or when you are tired, it allows you to survive the round.
In Wards case, it allows him to win, good for him, but I just don't like watching that type of fighter (I'm not the only one).

Golota was fun to watch, and I think he was in a good position to win against Bowe before he "lost it" in his head...

It is true that Kovalev looked like he didn't know what to do. Good and powerfull inside fighters, like Beterbiev, will enjoy facing Ward.

The thing about that is you have train differently. You have to train to protect against butts and groin shots. It's not part of the basic fundamentals of boxing. So, this is where Ward holds a big advantage over his more orthodox opponents.

If you are not trained to avoid or mitigate butts and protect your groin area, your regimen is lacking. SOGgy is a grinding pit dog. He is the best at what he does but he is by no means the only grinder in boxing.

I like grinders because they are generally overachievers.

Huh? You're not supposed to have to train against butts and groin shots and shots behind the head and elbows and biting and thumbing in the eye and whatever. That's why they have rules. It's supposed to be a (ha ha) legitimate sport not a street fight. That's why they have (ha ha) referees.

Why am I even responding to this idiot?

I made the mistake of responding to a troll.

Add: I corrected the little moron's quote, and the corrected quote is actually even stupider than the original: "If you are not trained to avoid or mitigate butts and protect your groin area, your regimen is lacking"
