Re: Was Kovalev robbed just like Larry Holmes and Hopkins?
Six US judge and two US refs in two fights - I'd call that highly suspicious. And anything but a level playing field. The fix could have been in to get rid of the Russian and keep the titles and the business in house.
Oh pardon me. You are fight, there is never and there never was and never will be any corruption in boxing. Silly me.

I never saw the Holmes fight in question, but the Hopkins fight they refer to there in that article he wasn't robbed.

I answered your question directly. Do not attempt to represent your words as my opinion.montrealsuper wrote:Six US judge and two US refs in two fights - I'd call that highly suspicious. Once the headline was People's Champ, I stopped reading...

Kovalev fought one even fight that happened to go the other way.......then he essentially quit fighting in the second fight.
If Holmes or Hopkins ever did this, then sure....same thing.

He was robbed like Kovalev. The first fight was more convincing than either Hopkins fights against Taylor.

And all of that could've been moot if Kovalev just KO'd Ward both fights like he and his fans thought he would.

I don't buy into the anti Russian conspiracy for a minute, but that's a pretty lame comeback regardless.IKSRTFO wrote:montrealsuper wrote:Six US judge and two US refs in two fights - I'd call that highly suspicious. ..it's not so much about conspiracy about any particular nation, it's about obvious inability/unwillingness to create a level playfield for ALL parties concerned ..punchoutsb wrote:

Hopkins was robbed blind in both Taylor fights.. He won easily.. Holmes lost the 1st Spinks fight legitimately, but he was robbed in the rematch.gilgamesh wrote:I never saw the Holmes fight in question, but the Hopkins fight they refer to there in that article he wasn't robbed.
Robberies are reality in Boxing.. They happen all the time.. However those weren't as bad as the 2 Kovalev-Ward robberies.

Spinks clearly won. What morons these guys are. Hey Mark, it was a 15 round fight bro. I had it 10-5 spinks, Larry edged the rematch.gilgamesh wrote:I never saw the Holmes fight in question, but the Hopkins fight they refer to there in that article he wasn't robbed.

Re: Was Kovalev robbed just like Larry Holmes and Hopkins?
Kovalev is a bully fighter.
Ward had him figured down the stretch of the 1st fight.
In the beginning of the 2nd fight, Kovalev didn't hold/headlock Ward as much.
He couldn't keep the pace and was gassing from the 3rd round.
But like a bully,
when he realized his legs were shot,
and he'd have to endure a beating like a man,
and gut it out like Ward did,
he started to look for a way out.
This Freedom-led coalition against Ward needs to stop.
To me, this is no different than Zab quitting against Clottey.

"Freedom-led coalition" is a classic. Fortunately Freedom 2013 said if Kovalev "got robbed" he would quit following boxing!! Hopefully he will keep his word and return to his blatant racist websites he used to tout when he posted here under the name "Tunney."
