Re: Wilder rejects Whyte
Wilder should take this fight imo. Whytes not a bad opponent, and better than some of the guys he's defended against for me. He should come over to England to do it, he should beat whyte really, he's got the punch, reach, and whytes not elusive, he should stop him at some point. Whytes all heart and guts if nothing else, and physically looks in better shape now than when he fought Joshua. It'd take some tremendous staying power from whyte to get thru the moment he'd definitely have getting hurt by wilder. Wilder punches bigger than Joshua, but he wouldn't completely dominate him, it'd probably come out of nowhere during a good scrap.
He'd get paid well
He'd build his profile with the UK fan base
It makes sense in a boxing sense

He can't take the fight.

I've only read Hearn on twitter, but it reads that he's made an offer.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He can't take the fight.

It doesn't have to be instead of fighting Stiverne does it? Get the Stiverne fight out the way or we'll have to go through this extreme tedium again (assuming Wilder were to get past Whyte) then fight Whyte. No reason he can't give a commitment or even sign a contract in the meantime.
I believe Hearn was intending Wilder to fight Whyte with step-aside money being paid to Stiverne, but I expect he and Dillian would be flexible. It would be an entertaining fight and possibly very competitive. It works for everyone and it's crying out to be made.

A million of his purse can go to Stiverne just for existing and he can fight Whyte. The issue as stated before is Hearn gaining rights to Wilder. If the language of the contracts were different this fight is signed for London.

He'd still owe stiverne a fight. He's better off getting that out of the way so he can fight Joshua or Parker. Whyte isn't that big. It sucks, but the time to deal with stiverne is now.

Agreed. Get it out of the way. Unify with Parker then the cash out fight with Joshua

Re: Wilder rejects Whyte
For me, Wilder is just wasting as much time as possible, just like he did with Povetkin. He could easely have faced Stiverne, or Povetkin ages ago, buthe simply refuses and uses him as a shield against guys like Whyte. Who he simply don't want to fight.
Re: Wilder rejects Whyte
Am I on your "ignore list" now Saad? I already said "get the Stiverne fight out the way first" or we'll have to go through all this boring WBC title in limbo shite once again. It doesn't stop him saying yes to fighting Whyte after his mandatory, which may or may not be acceptable to Whyte/ Hearn. I know that wasn't what Hearn was proposing but it may suit him/them just the same.
@Marv: Do we know that Hearn has tried to get options on Deontay or are we just speculating? I've not heard that Wilder said anything about that, just one or possibly two posters on here. Fukc me, the guy doesn't even have to think up his own excuses now.
If he wants options get it out there - tell us what they are Deontay, and confirm that you're not prepared to accept those strings. If they're unreasonable the fans will be on your side and public opinion i.e. media pressure, could get Eddie to back off, and if he won't then at least it will make it look less like you're hiding.
It's not an insurmountable obstacle if you want the fight. The quickest way to Joshua is through Whyte.

Why would he say yes to fighting Whyte when he wants to fight Joshua or Parker? Why would I ignore you because you don't like wilder?

Re: Wilder rejects Whyte
Because he knows that both Joshua, as well as Parker are scheduled with others.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Why would he say yes to fighting Whyte when he wants to fight Joshua or Parker? Why would I ignore you because you don't like wilder?
His plan is just to wait till Joshua and Parker are free again and then suddenly schedule a fight against Stiverne anyway and then scream in all the media, I wanted to fight both of you, but you guys keep on ducking me!
If Wilder really wanted to fight those top guys, he scheduled a fight with Stiverne tomorrow, so he's 100% free to fight any of the beltholders whenever they are free.
Re: Wilder rejects Whyte
Joshua doesn't need him, he's got obligations up to his neck. UK casuals don't know Wilder or if they do, have never seen him in a meaningful fight. Whyte isn't A-Grade but he's tough, fearless and will give Wilder a serious argument in the ring. UK fans know this and like and respect Whyte. There's a feeling that Wilder needs to show he's not just after a mega-money cashout/ retirement benefit fight with AJ, or at least that's how I look at it.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Why would he say yes to fighting Whyte when he wants to fight Joshua or Parker? Just because I'm always on his case doesn't mean I don't like Wilder. I would love to see him fight Joshua, Parker, Ortiz, Klitschko or Povetkin.
I would enjoy watching him fight Whyte, Breazeale, Miller or ... no that's about it.
He's a fighter that can compete against A-Grade opposition and be perceived to be in with a decent chance of winning. For this reason I love Deontay Wilder. Sadly he talks the talk and that's as far as it goes. He is a major disappointment to me. Guess you could say I have a love/hate attitude to Wilder.
The ignore list question was because you ignored what I'd said about getting the Stiverne fight done first. Pretty late over there, huh?

What?
Re: Wilder rejects Whyte
He could say yes to whyte as
1. There's actually an offer
2. It's good money
3. It's a logical fight to build his profile
