Just imagine we've build a time machine, and we merge 1998 (Griffin/Hill) with 2013 (Cleverly/Sillakh).

Roy would get Kovalev out easier than Ward did, but Roy after Tarver would've been literally killed in the ring by Kov.

I'd say the same. Prime RJJ beats Prime Kovalev, no doubt. Still a good fight, and if we're talking just about past it... well, Kov likely KO's him.

Either way, would have been a great fight with someone  for sure.

Roy at his prime losses to nobody. He owns super middleweight and light heavyweight.

At middleweight it would be interresting with robinson & leonard. Cw like haye or usyk would be too big for him. But aside from he is the boss.

Michael Spinks would have kicked Roy's butt to the moon at Light Heavyweight... Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson were both OLDER than Roy... But they FLATTENED him.. It's a little bit like Manny Pacquiao.. Pac looks good until somebody hits him on the chin and knocks him into the next time zone.

I'd have to favor Roy in that one. Sergey would trouble him with his jab at times just like he did Andre, but Roy's athleticism and speed would be too much.

Age and peak are relative to individuals. Fighter A at 35 years isn't necessarily closer to his peak than fighter B at 37 years.

However I agree Spinks would be favourite vs Roy at 175

That's like asking who wins a fight out of Schwarzenegger or DeVito. Roy Jones Jnr. no question about it.

Spinks (version 1985) vs Jones (version 2002) would be unpredictable....Hell of the match.......
Spinks (version 1985) vs Calzaghe (version 2008) would be the best one at LHW......

I do give spinks the edge at 175

Roy at 160-168 is more formidable imo. He wasn't a big 175 but at 160 he could give 99% of opposition all they could handle.

Calzaghes a great opponent but realistically only 1 win (I don't count the Roy fight) over an old but still quality hopkins at 175 makes it hard to discuss him properly at that weight imo

You don't count the Roy fight !? Roy is older only 3 years than Calzaghe, and it was a genuine "toy with Roy" by JC......

I said this to kalan

Age does not = peak

Roy was far more clearly past it than Calzaghe when they met. By a mile
