Jimmy Kelly vs Florian Wildenhof

Post by Roche 5 »

For the (wait for it) IBF Mediterranean Middleweight Title.

What is this 'title' how does a Manc and German qualify for it?

I am massively confused

It's a very prestigious belt.

Kelly was originally going to fight for the lesser IBF Europe East/West title, but the powers that be obviously heard he'd once been to Cyprus, and this golden opportunity was born.

Or maybe they knew he's been known to enjoy the odd bit of feta.

You're right, just had a look.

Only a six rounder as well, do the IBF have a smart belt for that distance?

Like to see Sheehan put more into his punches. Seems happy to get round in. May be an interesting carrer :bag:

Kelly's original opponent got stopped at customs due to a criminal conviction.

Can't believe I wasted thousands on family holidays when The Mediterranean actually stretches as far as Manchester.

The problem with Kelly is that he seems to do nothing that well, there is zero X-factor. He doesn't punch, his skills are competent, but he is no master boxer. He doesn't seem fast either.

He seems as of today, a nice, competent fringe British title level guy.

Time will tell.
