There is no reason for any promotional issues. It's huge money and the promoters aren't asking for any options. That's a nice check for a promoter without risking anything or working.Naandrew wrote:I'd love tournaments in every weight but we have to be realistic.
Promotional issues get in the way of things ( which is a shame). This is why I don't have high hopes for the super middleweight one alongside the fact the weight isn't stacked.
As for cruiserweight it is the opposite loads of fighters without big promotional commitments and a very good lineup announced so far. Kudryashov has said he is up for it hopefully Usyk is in and that is all the champions*
* Lebedev is a paper champion Gassiev should be the unified champion now.

Glowacki is confirmed and Usyk is highly likely. The brackets are a week from Saturday so hopefully they're just holding back on some names at 68 for drama instead of scrambling to get guys.

I don't know if you're "in the know" regarding Glowacki but he isn't confirmed mate. I heard Usyk has been heavily linked.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Glowacki is confirmed and Usyk is highly likely. And today Marco Huck has been confirmed. After his last fight I'm a bit gutted.

The cruiserweight competitors combine for a fearsome record of 160 wins, seven losses and 119 KOs.
There is an incredible amount of talent at cruiserweight. The World Boxing Super Series will answer the one question fans have been asking themselves for so many years..
Who is the undisputed number one in a division loaded with undefeated champions and great fighters?

Yeah Glowacki not confirmed but a lot of talk he is in it.TheGingerBomber wrote:I don't know if you're "in the know" regarding Glowacki but he isn't confirmed mate. The two I really want in are Usyk and Kudryashov the latter has said he wants in.
Re: World Boxing Super Series
Saad raised a good point the other day about rematches of one-sided fights possibly deflating the tournament a bit. Huck-Briedis II and Usyk-Glowacki II wouldn't exactly be the start most of us are hoping to see, though there should still be plenty of quality match-ups anyway.

I understand Huck is popular in Germany, but surely it's time for him to be taken out to a field and shot?

True ( Huck v Glowacki was brilliant though)crusader wrote:Saad raised a good point the other day about rematches of one-sided fights possibly deflating the tournament a bit. I've liked Huck for a while but he was dire against Breidis
Hope he gives this a real go

No, I have no inside knowledge on this one. Read it from Rafael.TheGingerBomber wrote:I don't know if you're "in the know" regarding Glowacki but he isn't confirmed mate. He's right, if it's true the 4 seeded fighters will pick their opponents, who will that be? Usyk, Gassiev, Huck and Breidis?crusader wrote:Saad raised a good point the other day about rematches of one-sided fights possibly deflating the tournament a bit. Huck won't be seeded. I'd guess it will be dorticos based on record and I think he has one of those shiny things.TheGingerBomber wrote:He's right, if it's true the 4 seeded fighters will pick their opponents, who will that be? Yeah, good shout. I hope Usyk picks Huck if I'm honest, to prove his class and eliminate him early. If not, Huck vs Dorticos would do.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Huck won't be seeded. Hard to see past those rematches. Love to be wrong.
Re: World Boxing Super Series
If they're going for an easy touch, I actually think Wlod is the man. He's shopworn and just scraped by in his last two, but he's still a respectable name to have on a CW record. I think Glowacki and Huck would have better chances of turning the tables than Wlod would have of beating Usyk or Briedis.

Erik Skoglund and Jamie Cox to be added to the SMW series today. Sadly can't seem to attract as much talent in that one as the Cruisers

As has been said, talent ain't being enticed into the super middleweight tournament. I don't argue there isn't as many top class fighters in this division compared to Cruiser. Hoping for Smith vs Dirrell to kick it off, then Ramirez and a couple of prospects. Either way, no.1 in the division should still come from it.

If DeGale was fit do you think he would have entered?

Anyone think Cox is a bit out of his depth here?
I thought him against Rocky was a real 50/50. Don't give him much chance against fighters the calibre of Groves.

Smith/Dirrell won't be a set match up. The top seeds pick their fight. Whatever alphabet org it is would have to cancel the fight to allow them both in the tournament.TheGingerBomber wrote:As has been said, talent ain't being enticed into the super middleweight tournament. Re: World Boxing Super Series
Could we see Groves against Cox. I presume Groves is going to be top seed so he gets first pick.
Re: World Boxing Super Series
I do based on what I have seen, caught up with him against Lewis Taylor and not impressed with him at all.PredatorHayds wrote:Anyone think Cox is a bit out of his depth here?

But then it's been years of people ( FW, his team, other posters and now Hearn) saying he is quality when it has not been backed up.
Good thing is we will know his level in the next year. He deserves credit for entering though.
He could have gone the smith brother route of fighting wasters on under cards before an undeserved world title fight. He had a winnable British title fight lined up and will now fight better oppositions so FairPlay.

Yeah, huge step up for him. He'll need to show every ounce of the class he apparently shows in training, but nowhere else.PredatorHayds wrote:Anyone think Cox is a bit out of his depth here?
