Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/boxing/8 ... -low-blows
Appealing to the Nevada boxing commission about boxing monkey business in Las Vegas? Ha ha that would be like appealing to Al Capone about noisy beer trucks in Chicago!

Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
I doubt he gets anything accomplished, but I don't blame him for trying.

NSAC will wipe their butts with the appeal.
Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
Interresting. The final low blows ate as proof on video. Enough evidence. The 10 low blows before that should be on tape too.

Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
Weeks showed where is good at the start, and that was the belt line. The low blows were below that so let's see if there is any justice in Vegas

Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
The evidence will reveal that Krushedner landed the most direct nutshot of the fight. It will also show that Krushedner landed several more low blows, one of which was just prior to a clean shot landed by SOGgy on the beltline in the seventh that Krushedner feigned injury over.
Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
So now you have changed your story? First they were not low... And now you are saying those low blows are OK because Kovalev also did it?Tanzio wrote:The evidence will reveal that Krushedner landed the most direct nutshot of the fight. Keep on talking... I like where this is going.
On a side note it would bee nice to see some videos or at least pictures of those low blows that Kovalev did. Not that I don't trust you... No scratch that... It is precisely because I don't trust you
There is plenty of videos and pictures of the low blows Ward landed.

Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
Chances of success are slim and none. Most of them were on or just below the belt line and didn't land Golota-style directly on the gonads.
Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
Wth are you talking about? I have stated all along that SOGgy landed some low blows. I have also stated that Krushedner landed low blows. Of the last three SOGgy shots I believe that only the last one was discernibly low. IMO, Krushedner landed the clearest and most direct nutshot of the fight in the eighth.Heretic wrote:So now you have changed your story? First they were not low... The difference is that SOGgy never played a damsil in distress when Krushedner landed his share of low blows.
I am not saying any low blows are ok. I am saying that Krushedner got part of what he was trolling for, a way out of a beating.
Notice the immediate aftermath of the fight. Krushedner tries to do a Dirrell sales job on the last shot. Weeks made the correct call given Krushedner's repeated feigning injury.
As I have also stated repeatedly, Week's cheated SOGgy and me out of the final beatdown.
Get off your dead prodigious ass and watch the eighth round again, without your eyes closed. Or, are you another Buttheadbean coming on here talkin sh!t when you have only seen biased footage of the fight?

Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
Imagine if they ever deemed that fight a no contest after review. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN but it would be pretty cool because I would love to see them fight for a 3rd time. Boxing needs more trilogies and rematches. And honestly, they are still each others most profitable possible opponent so why not cash in one more time? I just don't see Ward giving Kovalev another shot after this. I don't blame him.

Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
Ward and Kovalev both made career high purses in the rematch so that's all they care about. You think Ward can come anywhere close to $7m for his next fight if it's not Kovalev as an opponent? He'll be lucky to make a third of that with anyone else. Ward made anywhere from 6-9m for the fight. Why get in the ring and risk your health for anything less than that now at his age?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Those fights weren't profitable.caldo2025 wrote:Imagine if they ever deemed that fight a no contest after review. Kovalev made more in the first fight. No ward isn't making ,7 million for any fight, rocnation lost millions on these fights. I think they're done with ward. Ward made 6.5 million for the rematch. Sergey made a million or so.caldo2025 wrote:Ward and Kovalev both made career high purses in the rematch so that's all they care about. Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
Kovalev's balls must be up behind his waist protector, because even when they showed the slow motion he claimed they were low, even though the punches clearly landed on the waist protector.
There might have been an actual low shot or two, but because of the angle the fight was filmed from, I couldn't see it.
Kovalev just seems like a whiner to me.
I get that he's pi$$ed that he lost his titles (I would be too), but he got an immediate rematch & his dreadful stamina was his downfall as he was gassing badly due to Ward beating him down slowly.
He really needs to watch that film again & be honest with himself & go back to the drawing board & work on his conditioning; that, or don't fight Andre Ward again!

Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
Of course he should appeal. The ref was useless and the final shots were low... It will make no difference as the result will stand.
Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
The final shot was low, as in one. The other two were not low. Krushedner acted himself out of the fight. He should be nominated for a Razzie.Ezzard wrote:Of course he should appeal. The ref was useless and the final shots were low... It will make no difference as the result will stand.
Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
There were at least 7 low blows so you were wearing a sleep mask.. and when your opponent is bent over at the hips there isn't any possible room to score a legal blow from the angle Ward was throwing... Ward knew he was going to land several inches below the belt-line so it was deliberate.Syntax Error wrote:Kovalev's balls must be up behind his waist protector, because even when they showed the slow motion he claimed they were low, even though the punches clearly landed on the waist protector.

Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
There is no point in this. Isn't this the same commission that let Mayweather come into the Pacquiao fight roided to the gills and mask it up with IV? It was the Nevada commission or was it the USADA?

Well, I assume that you were watching it ringside & saw the blows live from a good angle?Kalan wrote:There were at least 7 low blows so you were wearing a sleep mask.. and when your opponent is bent over at the hips there isn't any possible room to score a legal blow from the angle Ward was throwing... I have merely said that from the camera angle I watched the fight from, I didn't see them.
I saw some blows land on his protector & whilst he was being interviewed after the fight, he was claiming that he'd been hit in the balls when the slo-mo showed punches were actually landed on his protector.
I have said more than once that for some of the shots, I was blindsided as a TV viewer, so I will have to take Krusher's word for that, but I am sceptical when he is openly claiming to be hit in the privates right at the moment they're replaying the very blows landing on his protector.
It's a real shame that this is the second time these two great fighters have combined only for the fights to end in question marks.
Kovalev is a great fighter, without doubt, but I do believe he is trying to take away Ward's glory, as Andre had clearly ground him down, but I am open to be convinced otherwise.

Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
Even in fornt of court the Americans feel no shame whatsoever to steal milions of dollars from innocent people like Povetkin, so no way that Kovalev will be treathen fair. Asking an American to be fair, open and honest is like asking Wilder to fight someone good. It just doesn't happen.
Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
There is really not much thinking involved with this fight. The fight confirmed once again Ward is a dirty fighter. Ward did what the ref allowed him too. Ward took advantage of the opportunity. Ward won the fight. Kovalev lost. Next.Syntax Error wrote:Well, I assume that you were watching it ringside & saw the blows live from a good angle?Kalan wrote:There were at least 7 low blows so you were wearing a sleep mask.. and when your opponent is bent over at the hips there isn't any possible room to score a legal blow from the angle Ward was throwing... Re: Sergey Kovalev to appeal Andre Ward stoppage over low blows
Once again Syntax Error... you must have been wearing a sleep mask... WTF do you mean the punches landed on his protector??? They're supposed to land on a legal scoring area -- and that's ONLY above the belt-line or navel line.. Ward landed punches 7 inches below the belt-line. If they're an inch low they're low.
Your cup comes up to the belt-line or navel line because anything below that is a low blow -- and is not supposed to be counted by the judges. According to boxing rules you cannot win a fight by KO with a low blow or other illegal blow.. A commission can change the result of a fight if the officials committed errors -- but political decisions have been made in the case of Floyd Mayweather, Julio Cesar Chavez, and many other well backed boxers.
Riddick Bowe knocked Buster Mathis Jr out with an illegal punch.. Mathis clearly took a knee.. Bowe clearly smashed him when he was down on a knee for more than a second.. But he was Riddick Bowe, America's top Heavyweight at the time.. Although Mercante said Bowe threw the illegal punch deliberately, because Mathis had clearly taken a knee, they decided to call the fight a no contest rather than hamper Bowe with a DQ loss.
