Has ever somebody told you you a smart arse?

It’s not my intention to be contrary and pedantic, but it’s simply my personal preference to discuss actual real-world fights that are contractually signed-up and will be televised… I’m referring to contests that we’ll be able to actually watch on TV rather than fantasize about.

For sure, threads discussing fantasy fight are highly-popular on this forum (as there are loads of them), so my opinion is clearly in the minority. I hope that others can provide you with the sort of feedback you’re looking for.

That being said, I feel that boxing is one of those very few sports where fans rarely get to see “the best facing the best”, which is the main reason for my stance... since most of these discussions are about as realistic as the sort of events that take place in the Harry Potter series of novels.

You’re absolutely right. Perhaps I’ve over-reacted and I do agree that this thread is harmless.

It’s just that it disappoints me that fight fans seem to show more passion and enthusiasm over discussions about contests that are either highly-unlikely to take place or will never happen, than any big bouts that have already been scheduled.

I’ll try and refrain from contributing to these sort of threads from now on, because I don’t want to spoil other people’s enjoyment.

I'm not, I just don't understand how people can care about dwarfs so much.

You are very strange. I like the HWs, but to dismiss the other classes is limiting.

Although, to be honest, I care nothing about the classes below lightweight, perhaps featherweight. Simply because, they lack power to deliver KOs regularly.

God I hate that Yamanaka chap, he punches like a girl, Inoue a Monster? More like a feather duster, not sure why anyone would fear Higa, Gonzalez or Srisaket, Taconing is more like wet tampon and Kyoguchi is sooooo feather fisted...

A division is important when a huge amount of high level boxers are in it. Right now it is not the case for hw.

Heavyweight is boxing's flagship division, always has been, always will be.

That's not to say it doesn't ever fall into the doldrums. It doesn't mean that other dvisions don't take turns in being the most exciting for a period, or that you don't generally see better boxing in the lighter dvisions.

Until we had all this fragmentation of titlea almost everyone would know who was the Heavyweight Champions of the World even people who had no interest in boxing , even people who had no interest in sport.

You don't ever look at the World Heavyweight champion and think "Sure he's the best at his weight but he wouldn't stand any chance against that guy" (unless that guy is armed of course )

As I always say (more than a little tongue in cheek admittedly) "It's hard to get excited about a guy who weighs less than your sister".
