Is Judah Vs Mayweather going to be shown in UK?

Does anyone know if this is being shown in the UK ?

It should be live on SKY, what are SKY doing ? We have had nothing recently, apart from some token efforts like Mosley Vs Vargas (3 week delay).

SKY MUST do this fight if they want fans to buy the Hatton PPV's, common SKY, British boxing is good and so the interest in boxing is huge over here. They should show the domestic fights but they should always show the big fights from the states, especially when the P4P best fighters in the world are involved. SKY just spend all our subscription money on football and cricket and americal football, basketball. All the main wrestling events are shown, some on box office though, but no mainstream boxing only commenwealth title defences and fights from Japan!

THe Baldomir loss has menat this clash has lost some of it's luster but none the less I fully expect it to be live, or at the very least shown early on the following day.

Anything less would be completly unacceptable from Sky.

Don't know if anyone else has had any feedback, but I emailed Sky and told them I'd cancelled Sky sports due to the poor boxing coverage recently, and that a LOT of other fans would be doing likewise -

Sky Sports aim to achieve a balance of good British/Commonwealth and European title matches, with some overseas fights where we are successful with various rights bids.

We have been unlucky with some domestic fights being disrupted by injury to top of the bill fighters, but we think we have maintained a regular output in the Friday Fight Night slot

I am sorry to read of your disappointment that the Toney v Rahaman fight was not shown, however, you have my assurance that your comments and all the points raised in your e-mail have been noted and passed to the relevant department for their information.

Interesting.

But if they weren't successful in a bid for rights, that would imply someone else got the rights, and as the Toney v Rahman fight wasn't shown anywhere, that simply cannot be the case.

Yes precisely. I mean, how much I wonder would that fight have cost on tape delay the next morning for instance?

Ideally I'd like to see fights live, I'll settle for next morning delayed, but we didn't even get this one even a week later!

Yes a case of them flat out refusing the rights fee. But like you say, next day coverage would've been good - and a lot cheaper you'd think.

A week later is too late - ITV and BBC never did that in the past. If they showed a big fight from the USA it was at least 24 hrs delay at the most.

If Sky screen Floyd/Judah then they're heading in the right direction at least.

That's not Sky's product though. Their product is domestic stuff which they can get fairly cheaply and the occasional US-based big fight card, if the guys fighting are sufficiently well-known. Realistically, I can see somebody deciding not to break the bank to see the guy sparked by Lewis a million years ago versus a very fat middleweight. The fight sells in the US because of Toney, but his 'antics' just aren't relayed over here apart from via the web.

basically, Sky don't want to spend loads of time and effort building a second string to their boxing bow when the events start at 5am and when the cost for these sporadic events is likely prohibitive. I don't hold that against them too much.

That said, I fully recognise that for all the hours of golf and NASCAR then slipping in the big US fight card of the fortnight on a tape delay wouldn't be a huge imposition. These are a bunch of guys who can repeat the same edition of Aerobics Oz Style 5 times a day, surely they have a slot for some boxing. It's clearly a question of budgets, of the fact that we're in a niche sport, and that the US cards aren't value for money in terms of keeping regular punters happy.

Well I've since downloaded it and it wasn't much to write home about!

Lets hope Mayweather v Judah gets shown you'd think with Sky backing Hatton so heavily they'd pick that one up at the very least on a delayed basis.

Just watch it online via streamtv and tell Sky to piss off

Streamtv costs only £2 a month and they stream all the PPV fights

Stream TV can be good, but sometimes the stream is too slow and the reception not too good. If I link my laptop to TV the reception isn't the post, watching it through a direct feed from a TV company is much better quality

I prefer to download a torrent of the fight from http://www.worldboxingvideoarchive.com you can do it first thing sunday morning without checking the result first. If its a big fight it normally has plenty of seeders so you can get the whole fight in about an hour and good quality too. Not as good as digital TV of course but better than missing it altogether.

I am really disappointed with SKY's recent boxing coverage. SKY's coverage has been second to none over the last couple of years, probably the best in Europe, but I have never seen a time when so many good / big fights have not been shown. A lot boxing fans subscribe to SKY SPORTS just for the boxing, It is not fair to use everyone's money just on football and cricket. The subscription fees should be evenly distributed to all the different sports.

I understand about boxing politics, but this does't deter from the fact that there are some great fighters out there. British Boxing is going through a buzz at moment, with quite a few legitimate champions and some on verge of championship fights.

SKY must show the best fights especially when it involves Pound for Pound the best fighters in the world, otherwise how can you expect fans to buy Ricky Hatton PPV's : -

The upcoming Zab Judah Vs Floyd Mayweather fight on Sat 8th April is a real must for boxing fans and would be a great Easter treat for fans in the UK. The undercard is brilliant too; wouldn't even mind Box Office. Knowing that Ricky Hatton's moving up to this weight in May, he could fight the winner of this fight.

Prizefight - Here is one coming up April 8th that has peaked my interest. Zab Judah puts his IBF version of the welterweight title on the line against undefeated superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. Despite the fact that Judah lost a portion of the title in his last fight to Carlos Baldomir, this bout will provide a stern test for Mayweather..

In my opinion Floyd is the best boxer pound for pound in the world today. I always felt Judah was over rated but he is still a formidable fighter. He is probably the fastest boxer Floyd will have met to this point in his career. Judah has a style that could pose problems for Floyd. Nevertheless I see Floyd winning inside the distance in a thriller. (Floyd's last 6 fights have been shown on SKY )

On the undercard Jorge Arce meets Rosendo Alvarez in a WBC Interim Flyweight title bout. Alvarez was one of the few who could hang tough with the great Ricardo Lopez when he was in his prime. Alvarez may be getting a little long in the tooth but if he has one more good fight left in him, this could be a very entertaining bout. These are two of the best little guys around. (Arce been shown on SKY a dozen times)

Also Houston's pride Juan Diaz takes on Jose Cotto for the WBA lightweight title. I could see this one being an all out war. Diaz is a strong, aggressive fighter. Cotto won't have to look for him. Very good match up that has the prospect of being a real thriller.

What are SKY doing at the moment? ITV and Channel 5 (Terrestrial - Free) are showing better boxing at the moment!! If SKY are going to continue to do boxing, they must do it properly and offer more than terrestrial TV, or else whets the point paying more. I am really thinking about me subscription currently and if many big fights are missed then I will cancel my subscription, not the only boxing fan that will be feeling like this.

Boxing has been moved to Fridays for the football on Saturdays, but most people are out on Saturday nights and then watch match of the day on BBC. Also no more Ringside on Tuesdays/Thursdays

Are SKY planning to tone down the boxing ? Are SKY only going to show domestic fights / Japanese fights ?

Let me know if SKY are showing this one and if not, SKY's boxing plans for the future, so I can weigh-up if I should cancel me subscription or not.

It really looks like they are getting rid of boxing slowly.
Who wants to watch hasegawa v sahaprom on a friday night?

The new person and he must be new who is buying the boxing rights this year is very poor at his job.

It was a good piece from Bunce, and fair play no mention of the BBC - that I have been critical of him in the past when he discusses the TV situation.

I don't think people here would be clammering so much for sky to be showing Floyd vs Bummdomir.

I commend Floyd for taking a HARDER fight than the bumdomir fight or Collao

Well, I wouldn't call him undisputed until he beats Gatti for the belts. Yes, he handed Gatti his chin on a platter the first time, and if he has to fight Gatti for the belts again, so be it. But if he does win them, then you can't deny him as the Undisputed Welter champ.

are you insane? What on earth would he need a rematch for, it's not like the fornicating first fight was close, these days having all the belts is not that important in determining who the best is.

After all, Larry Holmes never held all the belts, but there was little doubt he was the best heavyweight in the world.
