Nigel Benn v Steve Collins 3
Re: Nigel Benn v Steve Collins 3
Benn may have made those comments at the time being fed up of the daily grind, and already being a millionaire who didn't need this shite anymore. Being around the gyms again has relit the fire he had when he was a kid who just wanted to fight, same for Collins. They are fighting men, and in better shape than 90% of 30-40 year olds, so where is the harm? And as I said previously, there are seriously medically unfit people fighting unlicensed every week now and coming to no harm.
It's basically just two old warriors having a scrap. Both at thew same stage in life, and both well out of their prime. I'd watch it, I expect it would be slow & technical, but overall enterataining. I wonder if this will draw the liked of Eubank & JC out.
There is nothing wrong with legends type matches, so long as they are equally matched.
Eddie, if you are listening, Legends Prizefighter !!

Benn is kidding himself if he thinks this gives him closure.Heartbreak_Kid79 wrote:For Benn its about closure.... but Colllins beat him twice before.
It won't be saving face if Collins blots another defeat on Benns record
The only closure he wants is a W over Mr Christopher Livingston Eubank on his record.
If he beats Collins, he'll call out Eubank: He's been trying to get a rubber match with Eubank for years & Chris has messed him about by intimating he'd be up for it, but I don't think Chris Eubank would be that stupid, but who knows?
Re: Nigel Benn v Steve Collins 3
Pointless fight. Hope it helps the 2 guys financially as that's obviously what this really must be about.
Re: Nigel Benn v Steve Collins 3
It's got nothing to do with "closure" Nigel just wants a quick million or 2.
Nothing wrong with that. But all this talk of "closure" is bull plop.

Yep, I reckon Woodhall gets excited by the thought of investing in long term bonds...
As for the fight, let them do it, it's not as if they want to fight younger guys it's a one off thing.

Hopefully this bombs and gets poor figures. Otherwise it sets a dangerous precedent. If a few million are clearly on the table then it wouldn't be long before we saw something like Fat Naz vs Hatton or Bruno vs audley
Re: Nigel Benn v Steve Collins 3
..benn is in good shape fast and still hits hard...but collins would take him......i think theyve left it too late 47/48/49 would have been better.
If it does take place it should be a ten rounder of two minutes and 16oz gloves
Benn is loaded by the mid 90s he had 20 houses and shops.he basically got his dad to put all his ring earnings into houses....basically the froch model before froch

I think the two have the utmost respect for each other.Syntax Error wrote:It's amazing that after over twenty years, these guys aren't at peace with themselves.
I could understand, 1, 2, maybe even 5 years, but 21 years?![]()
Ultimately it's up to them how they conduct their lives, but I certainly have no interest in watching two rickety old men who were in their primes 25 years ago trying to reignite a long dead rivalry.
Its just collins needs the money.
And benn who has been back in the gym training his son and getting in shape feels he could still do it and with british boxing booming he might make £250,000 out of it....

Thought the whole overseas licence thing had been stopped by BBBOC
Saying that they could do it under something like BBU (British boxing union) and have ex pros / decent young kids on undercard
Nobody who's going is going for the undercard anyway.

Has houses abroad and in London.
Him and his missus divorced something like 2005 and he paid her off a couple of million on proviso she got none of his future earnings. Bear in mind his BIG money fight so we're after that he's still doing very very well!!!!
