if the fight was made today, who wins?
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Alexander Povetkin
Joshus's height/reach would give Pov problems. AJ mid/late tko

AJ, but not with ease, if AJ get's tired, he'll have a bigger problem as he had with Klitschko. Povetkin has always had a better stamina.
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Alexander Povetkin
I predict a KO win for Joshua. He will destroy Povetkin very easy.

If Joshua has a fatigue attack - or in other words, if the fight is tense and lasts more than 4 rounds - Povetkin will starch him!

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Alexander Povetkin
Povetkin had the overhand right waiting for him ALL. FIGHT. LONG against Rudenko and almost never pulled the trigger on it. I doubt he'd see the 5th round against Joshua.Tuan_Jim wrote:If Joshua has a fatigue attack - or in other words, if the fight is tense and lasts more than 4 rounds - Povetkin will starch him!

Nope, Povetkin is honest about it, he doesn't have asthma, he just has naturally gifted genes.Counter-puncher wrote:'Asthma' medicationBoxerbeetle wrote:I wonder whyasdfjkl wrote:AJ, but not with ease, if AJ get's tired, he'll have a bigger problem as he had with Klitschko. Just one of those things. Lennox Lewis couldn't put a dent in Levi Billups but then a few months later he flattens Ruddock. Joshua would destroy Povetkin. It'd be a one sided beatdown.Tuan_Jim wrote:Just one of those things. Lennox Lewis couldn't put a dent in Levi Billups but then a few months later he flattens Ruddock. I think this is a competitive fight, though Joshua is clearly the favourite. I would have it 70-30. Povetkin can punch and will present some new challenges with his height, style and power (and for once Joshua will be facing someone that juices as much as himgilgamesh wrote:Joshua would destroy Povetkin. Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Alexander Povetkin
Povetkin looked like he'd lost some muscle against Rudenko. I could put a bit down to the version I watched of the fight but his legs looked a lot thinner than previous.
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Alexander Povetkin
The most concerning thing about his performance for me was the fact that he apparently had no clue that Rudenko was wide open for an overhand right for 36 straight minutes basically.ScottDetonator wrote:Povetkin looked like he'd lost some muscle against Rudenko. The opening for that punch was staring him in the face all fight long and he threw maybe 5 of them the whole goddamn fight. 3 of 'em landed.
He ain't too bright.
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Alexander Povetkin
I think AJ would have too much length and power. He'd probably be able to keep Pov at range and land big shots before Pov, whose head freezes up when opponents throw back, could get to him.
Incidentally, I wonder how AJ will go about trying to finish opponents now post-Wlad. I rewatched the 5th and 6th the other day, and his gas tank was utterly minuscule; almost as soon as he began opening up, he was horribly gassed and out of the fight for several rounds.

It's possible to correct stamina issues. Maybe he can.crusader wrote:I think AJ would have too much length and power. He's probably be able to keep Pov at range and land big shots before Pov could get to him.

Wladimir basically did it by just learning to pace himself right. Of course this led to him being ridiculous patient sometimes even against guys that he could obviously have blown away in the opening round of the fight and still even dragging THOSE kinda guys deep just to make good and damn sure he didn't have anymore Lamon Brewster or Ross Purrity flashbacks.

Hasn't he tested positive twice in like 8 months for PEDs?

Nope, that's a mediastory the Americans try to spread, but in reality he never did anything wrong at all.Wales wrote:Hasn't he tested positive twice in like 8 months for PEDs?
I think it was sad that Rudenko had something with his neck, so Povetkin didn't fully hit him on his head. I hope to see the top contenders dare to face him soon.

You think Joshua doesn't juice? I also see it as a 75-25 ish fight.boxingknockout wrote:I think this is a competitive fight, though Joshua is clearly the favourite. I would have it 70-30. Confused - thought first time he'd taken it "before it was on banned list" then he got found positive with both A and b sample and had fine and suspension?asdfjkl wrote:Nope, that's a mediastory the Americans try to spread, but in reality he never did anything wrong at all.Wales wrote:Hasn't he tested positive twice in like 8 months for PEDs?

Admittedly I've not had much interest in Povetkin for a long long time -. Personally he's been really disappointing from early doors after hype when he went pro. So probably skimmed over an article and missed the facts / follow up

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Alexander Povetkin
He never got tested positive, the American media made a joke saying "he tested positive for Meldonium", which litterally means there has been detected Meldonium in his body. That's correct, somehow it was 0.000000000070 gram of it, which still means he didn't fail the doping test.Wales wrote:Confused - thought first time he'd taken it "before it was on banned list" then he got found positive with both A and b sample and had fine and suspension?asdfjkl wrote:Nope, that's a mediastory the Americans try to spread, but in reality he never did anything wrong at all.Wales wrote:Hasn't he tested positive twice in like 8 months for PEDs?

It's like saying Wilder tested positive for testosteron, which he did, somehow he was within the marchins, so he didn't actually fail the dopingtest.
It's a wordjoke, Povetkin never failed a drugtest, it's just the media who was wrong, or wanted people to think Povetkin did something wrong. It's a really sad smearcompain of the Americans actually.

Povetkin would give AJ a really tough fight.
Impossible to judge Povetkin, hard to know which ones of his performances are drug related.
Wonder how the drug testing would work for this fight.
