Probably had more discussion threads on the fight than PPV buys.

It suggests that people expected the fight to be a rigged fight, and they were right.

Yet that moron mexi-wrong still clings to his ridiculous assertion that ggg isn't a bigger draw than kovalev.

..I agree that there is no need to pay for anything if the result is pretty much clear in advance...wonder if Kovalev gets paid anything at all considering low PPV buys..

I expected it's value was not worth the price tag. And it wasn't. Probably the same with most.

Well, I'll probably prefere any Kovalev fight above any GGG fight, let alone any Ward fight.

Canelo is a bum compared to Ward (1) and Kovalev (2).
Chavez Jr is a bum compared to me.

PPV buys is more about public manipulation than skills or expectations of a good fight.

The PPV buy-rate for the Ward-Kovalev rematch is really disappointing, especially for Krusher, since he didn’t receive a guaranteed payday, instead his entire purse was comprised of a percentage of the buys.

So it seems that Ward received a combined total of roughly $11.5m for both fights against Kovalev, with the Russian receiving a (probable) paltry $3m (as he only earned $2m for the first bout). :o

That sucks. Krusher got outsmarted on all fronts.

That's what the fight was worth, Duva can't be expected to lose money just because Rocnation likes to.

Roc Nation probably did lose money on Ward's contract, but with Main Events being a small promoter, do we know that their fighters are paid their worth (i.e. the same typical rate that others fighters are paid by other promoters) or does Kathy Duva pay them less? There's usually a reason why certain promoters have a poor roster of fighters.

:TU:

Fighters are way overpaid here, that should be more of a model. Though Kovalev certainly deserves better promotion than was offered by rocnation, pretty easily the worst promotion company in Boxing history on the main stage. They're so uninvolved in everything that Canelo drew more buys with Chjavez than he did with Cotto.

I still have no idea why Kovalev seemed to make so many concessions in the first fight. he should have told Ward, I'm the champ, meet my demands or no fight. WTF happened?

That money wasn't up for grabs, Ward got a guarantee that there was no way Rocnation would turn a profit. Kovalev had an upside on the PPV that they obviously didn't come close to reaching. Americans don't give a fornicate about Boxing, these huge salaries are a thing of the past. that's why the PBC fighters just sit on their hands.

Krushedner thought that he would make short work of SOGgy and move on.

If the promoters charged boxrec posters $1 per post they write about the result, it would exceed the ppv revenue.

Don't think so. He had huge respect for Ward leading up to the first fight and wanted to test his skill. Initially Sergey wanted the fight in Oakland, in front of Ward's fans, like he did against Cleverly, Hopkins and Pascal. And also, the fight would've never happened if Kovalev didn't agree to those terms.

It's obvious, the winner is usually the guy who's expected to generate the most money, that's clearly Ward, so the Americans let Ward win. It's simple as that in America, nobody cares about the rules.

Feel free to let us know which nation you are from, so we can at least find a few controversial outcomes to remind you of that took place in your homeland.
