Dillian Whyte: Deontay Wilder is an 'embarrassment' to heavyweight boxing
Dillian Whyte has described Deontay Wilder as an "embarrassment to heavyweight boxing" after the WBC champion rejected a fight offer.
Whyte told Sky Sports, "In this game, nobody's going to give each other anything, you have to go after it yourself."
"Guys like Deontay Wilder are an embarrassment to heavyweight boxing. All the great champions have losses on their record because they fought other great fighters and that's the problem with Deontay Wilder, his last 10 fights have been with nobody."
"We have offered him five times more money than he made for his last fight, but he doesn't want to fight, so what's the problem?"
"Why's he avoiding? Because he knows I'm dangerous and he knows that he'll lose the fight."
"We're trying to get the Deontay Wilder fight, so it'll be good for me to get some exposure in the USA and get some experience abroad as well."

Whyte seems to be in a hurry to get starched.

I'm quite confident he won't stop him, but he could win most rounds slowlyRuthless-RKO wrote:What round does Wilder stop Whyte?Impractical Poster wrote:Whyte seems to be in a hurry to get starched.

Wilder usually starts off slow.. as he did vs. Washington.. It seems as if he didn't take Gerald seriously and just waiting to land a telling punch before throwing his usual sledgehammers..asdfjkl wrote:I'm quite confident he won't stop him, but he could win most rounds slowlyRuthless-RKO wrote:What round does Wilder stop Whyte?Impractical Poster wrote:Whyte seems to be in a hurry to get starched.
Wilder has shown that he can box sensibly and win rounds (vs. Stiverne).. Even in that fight he started throwing bombs but couldn't finish him off..
I think Wilder would stop Whyte late on.. 9-12

It would be an unpredictable fight. Let us say 60/40 Wilder...........

As overated as Wilder is, surely he beats Whyte.
Re: Dillian Whyte: Deontay Wilder is an 'embarrassment' to heavyweight boxing
Yeah he'd probably beat Whyte. Sadly Whyte would be the best fighter to date he's fought though.Loki wrote:As overated as Wilder is, surely he beats Whyte.

Wilder's list of opponents is embarrassing, but Whyte has a hugely inflated view of himself within the division. His best achievement is scraping a questionable decision against Chisora and landing one good shot on AJ. Aside from that his best win is probably Ian Lewison. He should look to fight a former Wilder opponent (Washington, Stiverne, Scott) or just fight another contender (Miller, Jennings). Better yet, give Del Boy a rematch.

I'd rather see him fight a different contender instead of "Loser to the Stars"ElJefe wrote:Wilder's list of opponents is embarrassing, but Whyte has a hugely inflated view of himself within the division. Me too. But fighting previous opponents of potential opponents and hopefully doing a better job on them seems to be how a lot of promoters build towards fights these days.gilgamesh wrote:I'd rather see him fight a different contender instead of "Loser to the Stars"ElJefe wrote:Wilder's list of opponents is embarrassing, but Whyte has a hugely inflated view of himself within the division. I'd like to see him against Szpilka to see how he does there. Szpilka did exceptionally well against Wilder prior to getting knocked out I thought.ElJefe wrote:Me too. Re: Dillian Whyte: Deontay Wilder is an 'embarrassment' to heavyweight boxing
I think there is little or no challenge in Whyte going against former Wilder easy beats. He is better than C grade. B- or there about. Hence Wilder won't fight him, even if the money is 5 times more than he usually earns.ElJefe wrote:Wilder's list of opponents is embarrassing, but Whyte has a hugely inflated view of himself within the division. If Whyte got the chance to fight Wilder he would be in the shape of his life, and put on a performance far and above the Del Boy fight. Besides Wlad, he is the only guy to give AJ a hard time, and I don't think he took that fight as seriously as he should have..

I can see Whyte losing against Washingtonby UD I do not think that Whyte is better than Mansour.
This guy Whyte is terrible slow and looks worse and worse since AJ knocked hin out.
Even Szpilka has better boxing skills , but Whyte is more durable
Re: Dillian Whyte: Deontay Wilder is an 'embarrassment' to heavyweight boxing
The Washington vs Jarrell Miller fight is a tricky one. I expect a close decision either way in that one. Miller is the better fighter with much more fighting experience, but Washington is in better shape.IronFrost wrote:gilgamesh wrote:I'd like to see him against Szpilka to see how he does there. I'm thinking that's gonna be a close decision either way as I think Washington is gonna be tough enough to stand up to Miller's shots early and, then it'll be a sloppy mess over the 2nd half as they both have stamina problems.
If Washington didn't have stamina problems of his own I'd probably pick him to win.

Miller packs too much extra LBs
Re: Dillian Whyte: Deontay Wilder is an 'embarrassment' to heavyweight boxing
Yeah I don't doubt it. Fortunately for him though as big and powerful as Washington appears he apparently lacks power in spite of his appearance. He's got a good jab, and can take a decent shot. That's about all I can say for him as a fighter. Miller actually knows how to fight, he's just fat.IronFrost wrote:gilgamesh wrote:The Washington vs Jarrell Miller fight is a tricky one. Whyte just wants his name out there. He's the exact kind of opponent Wilder has been feasting on his whole career; very little talent. Whyte has stepped up twice and showed that he cannot hang with the top. Wilder may be overrated, overprotected, whatever but he's already shown he can take out the C level guys.
He's got a mandatory with Stiverne (stupid as heck, I know), why would he drop his title to fight Dillian fricken Whyte. Does nothing for him.

He doesn't need to drop his title, but as long as the Nevada lab is suspended, he probably doesn't schedule any fight.punchoutsb wrote:Whyte just wants his name out there. Did the WBC remove Stiverne as mandatory?asdfjkl wrote:He doesn't need to drop his title, but as long as the Nevada lab is suspended, he probably doesn't schedule any fight.punchoutsb wrote:Whyte just wants his name out there. No ofcourse not, he would probably lose against anyone in the current top 25 from the WBC, but he's the mandatory without any fight against anyone in the WBC list since his loss against Wilder.punchoutsb wrote:Did the WBC remove Stiverne as mandatory?asdfjkl wrote:He doesn't need to drop his title, but as long as the Nevada lab is suspended, he probably doesn't schedule any fight.punchoutsb wrote:Whyte just wants his name out there. Whyte is after a "life changing" payday on the back of having a big mouth.
