Trainer: I Have No Doubt Whatsoever - Horn Will Beat Mayweather!

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Glenn Rushton, trainer of Australia's Jeff Horn, says his fighter is ready for Floyd Mayweather Jr. after the Aussie secured a shock victory over Manny Pacquiao to take the Filipino's WBO welterweight title.

After concocting a successful 10-point plan for Horn's clash with Pacquiao, Rushton said he was confident he could come up with a blueprint that would end Mayweather's streak.

"It'll be a different plan. I don't know whether it'll be 10 points, eight points or five points," Rushton said.

"I'll need to do the research and spend hundreds of hours like I did studying Manny Pacquiao to crystallise it down to a plan.

"Rest assured, Jeff Horn can beat Mayweather. I don't have any doubt whatsoever. "If he wants to dust down Conor McGregor, which he will, then by all means ... come back to the real world and take on a real challenge. Jeff Horn's ready and waiting for him."

I have no doubt whatsoever Horn will never get a chance to fight Mayweather, and it's a good thing for him too because he'll always be able to tell himself he would've beaten him.

Before he talks Mayweather. He needs to ACTUALLY beat Pacquiao first. If Manny wants the rematch that is.

Pretty rich that they're acting like they planned the perfect strategy to beat Pac. Don't know how you can "plan" for generous judging unless you paid them handsomely to ensure their generosity in your favor.

Can't blame a trainer for trying to get a mega-money fight for his guy...but no way does he believe what he's saying there.

I was reading up on Horn's trainer. Interesting guy. His main job is managing about £70 million in funds. He trains Horn in his salmon coloured mansion on brisbane or something lol.

Good points. This clownish trainer is more of a joke than his one-dimensional brawler.

Man, that would be one hell of a gambit. Spend millions of dollars bribing judges to get the decision against Pacquiao, only so that you can leverage that into getting an even more lucrative payday against Mayweather.

Don't be surprised to see Eddie Hearn offer Horn too good to refuse money to come to UK to fight Brook. Horn made, what, 350k last weekend? Could clear couple million pounds facing Brook in U.K. Later this year.

Brook is not making 147 again.. but I wouldn't be surprised if Hearn offers good money. I don't think Horn wants to fight in the UK or USA just yet..

He made $500k his last fight.. Arum will co-promote his next fight.

Floyd isn't doing any more fights past McGregor... Try calling out Errol Spence - you'll get a swift reply... But I guess you're not interested.

Would horn be a bigger fight than Spence?

I seriously doubt that Horn would beat Kell Brook and Errol Spence would carve Horn up like a Christmas turkey!!

In terms of money it could be as big. England and Australia have always had big history with sport. Thatd be the marketing angle I guess.

In terms of boxing in a pure sense, obviously no. Brook vs spence were the 2 best operators at 147 at the time imo.

I don't think it'd happen anyway, brook clearly should see his 147 days behind him

I think that it's funny how Horn and his team were playing everyone before the fight with Manny. It's like they wanted everyone to think that he was this nice young fighter out of his element. Then when the bell rings, he turned into an absolute head butting animal for 12 rounds and then calls out Floyd after the fight? Who is this freaking kid? I love it.

Horn and his team: "Who wants it? I'll take on anyone!"

Spence: "I'm your huckleberry."

I just rewatched Mayweather vs Maidana 1.

What a great performance by chino. Rewatching it, i gave it 114-114. Maidana put on a masterclass in the type of swashbuckling Horn hoped to pull off vs Pac - but Chino's leagues better than Horn.

Horn hit air all night vs Pacquiao, Maidana was messy but he was purposefully throwing shots from wild angles knowing some would club the head of Floyd. He fires jabs off when he's not even set for them, and his rips the body with both hands. Maidana is actually very underrated for his boxing skill. I don't want to be too harsh on Horn, i'm happy the kid has made a name for himself, but he's a C level fighter at best.
