MTK

Post by jizzle »

I was reading that the Boxing Union of Ireland have decided not to sanction any fights involving MTK fighters given their not so subtle links with some major Irish drug dealers/network which crossed over with the shooting at the weigh-in at the Regency Hotel a while back.

Should the BBBoC take a similar stance? And should Sky be broadcasting them?

I would say yes to ban but then what will happen to IFLTV.

If you banned boxers based on who they may or may not associate with how many fighters would we have left?

It's a concern that an attack could happen at the event like it did in the regency hotel. I live in Australia and at the time and those pictures were front page over here. I don't think the bbboc would ban them unless something like that happened in the UK at a weight in or fight, which is unlikely.

I am not naive. I think there is a difference between who boxers associate with and a money laundering exercise which is accepted by boxing authorities, broadcasters and promoters.

MTK are doing a lot of good for boxing and they are regularly putting on good safe shows. It would be absurd to undermine this because of one incident. Get real and support boxing rather than undermining it.
