Is Eddie Hearn the best and most likable promoter?
Re: Is Eddie Hearn the best and most likable promoter?
UK fight fans are quick to forget the warren monopoly years on sky when we were fed a steady stream of WBU world title fights.
Hearn pur Brook in with GGG, brought Spence jnr to the UK , put grouch in with Bute (who was heavy favourite before the fight) and not only put AJ in with Wladamir after only 18 fights but secured the fight in the U.K. , breaking the attendance record he'd previously set with Froch Groves.
It was also a promotional master stroke paying Charles Martin £5m to come to UK and lose his title to AJ. Martin couldn't turn that offer down.

Best in the business. US boxing promoters should learn from him.

I'm American and I can't stand when European's boo this guy inside the ring after yet another successful boxing event that pleased the masses. Wlad/AJ had just completed an all time epic heavyweight fight at an amazing venue with a ridiculous amount of fans and you boo the guy? I've been told that it's only being done in jest and that it's sort of a funny exchange between fans and Hearn but to me, we should be commending him and other promoters when they finally give us what we've been dying for. The best fighting the best.
Hearn is what Boxing needs right now. A young, fresh face, to challenge the network of old good boys responsible for the downturn of the sport. Not only is this kid making great fights but he actually appears to really care personally about the fighters he promotes. I sometimes watch him at ringside and he's just a fan like the rest of us. He celebrates as hard as the winning boxer does with a win. He's not like Arum, ODH or King who would promote a boxer in a fight...pumping him up....the boxer loses and he can be found in the ring after holding up the other boxer taking credit for him. Hearn's great for this sport.

You might be one of those American's don't get irony or the British sense of humour. The UK crowd's boo Eddie Hearn because it's become a tradition, not because of any genuine dislike.caldo2025 wrote:I'm American and I can't stand when European's boo this guy inside the ring after yet another successful boxing event that pleased the masses.

He is a decent promoter, but like most, he has been caught lying which makes him lose all credibility imo. (The last one I remember was him saying Spence turned down the fight with Brook a year ago or so)

So you’re saying that the tens of thousands of fans that attend the stadium-filling events staged by Matchroom promotions “hate” Eddie Hearn, because he’s conning them out of their hard-earned cash?Ricky_ wrote:Enlightened-One wrote:You might be one of those American's don't get irony or the British sense of humour. My original comment was on-topic. I then chose to mock your weak attempt to undermine me, by illustrating your own hypocrisy.Ricky_ wrote:That's because you're a dumbass troll.Enlightened-One wrote:Didn't you just say this to me "dumbass"? Therefore, I have acted reasonably, whereas you haven't!

Maybe you understand that format more clearly.
