Stupidly expensive Mayweather-McGregor tickets!

Post by Enlightened-One »

"Tickets for the super-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will set fans back a very pretty penny." (Source: Joe.co.uk)

Starting off with the cheap seats, and we use the term 'cheap' very loosely, you can grab yourself a nosebleed from the low-low price of $2,425 (€2,139). The seats on this level (sections 100-200 in the figure below) go right up to $5,268 (€4,647).

An absolute bargain, we know.

If you want to sit on the lower level (the purple blocks in the figure below), those tickets range from $4,996 (€4,407) right up to $18,930 (€16,700). The slightly lighter orange seats go from $6,693 (€5,904) to $10,503 ($9,265) while the big 'fornicate off' darker orange seats can be purchased from $12,808 (€11,299) to $17,586 (€15,514).

Image

Those were the cheap tickets. If you haven't already passed out from shock and are curious to see how the other half lives, strap yourselves in.

See that little pale burgundy (mauve?!?!) section of seats labelled A-H around that grey speck marked 'ring'? Yeah, they are as expensive as you would expect them to be. They start at $22,504 (€19,852) but go as high as $80,563 (€71,071).

It gets worse.

That slightly darker area closest to the ring is the premium "big swinging Mickey" section. If you want to sit there you will have to shell out a staggering $98,500 (€86,895).

Suddenly that $100 pay-per-view doesn't seem like too much of a stretch anymore.

Thoughts?

Alternatively people can mow their lawn and watch it grow. It's about as exciting as Mayweather

I received an email from a local restaurant (sports bar and grill) in Florida about watching Mayweather vs. McGregor. They have my email because I have a reward card from them, but I don't go there anymore. Their food is average. Their price to see this event from 9PM to the final bell is $99. I thought that this would be the price to watch it at home, so I thought that the restaurants would charge less, like around $40. The email states that the $99 does not include tax and gratuity, so it will be more than $99 after paying that, but it does include VIP reserved seating, premium open bar, and of course, event admission. Twin Peaks will probably charge less than $99. It would be better to have a party at someone's home and everyone contributes to the $99 or whatever the home price is going to be. I'm assuming it will be $99.

There are people filthy rich who spend around 10 to 15 k even more in clubs/casinos just for fun. So as long there is a certain rich clientele there gonna be very expensive things to buy in this world.

I'm happy to be not interested, but I can remember that during the Mayweather vs Pakio or whatever his name is, not going to google it again, I even saw Dutch media talking about it and all kind of celebraties watching it and saying it was terribly boring right after the match.

Yea, no wonder, you should have visited heavyweight fights!

But what about the expensive ticket prices? That's what this thread topic is about.

..you like circus and have enough money, be my guest...as far as I'm concerned, it's one of those events one can be proud for not participating in, financially or otherwise..

I'll pay $40 at the most for entry to a restaurant. Someone will probably put it on YouTube eventually.

Can't believe bars in US charge you to watch a fight. Was in Orlando last month would somewhere like a millers or wing house have the fight on?

Meh...

Jokes on them, a lot of us that don't have the money for the ticket prices actually know what it is they're gonna be seeing, somebody's gonna spend all that money expecting to see "An awesome fight"...and he'll deserve to be disappointed for not taking the time to know what he was paying for. Same for everybody that spends money on this.

"A fool and his money are soon parted" as the old saying goes.

Yup, as I've been saying all along, the demographic isn't Boxing or MMA fans. There will be more celebrities here than have been seen at a fight since Ali/Frazier 1.

Floyd is very smart to speculate these kind of opportunities. He knows that out there are rich people who would buy any fancy carnival-show which is implying big names just to prove their social status by being there.

Put Floyd vs Tiger Woods /Lebron James or Phelps in circus-shows and as crazy as it sounds the 10k+ seats would be completely sold. LOL

It's just the regular casual sports fans. Haven't you ever been at a bar or party and Boxing comes up and some dude says something like remember when Roy fucked up Whitaker? These are the people excited. Hey man, where you watching "the fight"? Floyd is slick but Conor has that punch. I think McGregor takes him.

it's the REAL casuals. Us message board Boxing nerds refer to casual fans as people who can probably name 20 or so fighters. They're hardcore compared to the millions that are going to buy this.

Spot on. This is embarrassing for the sport and Floyd retires after, beating Marcianos record.

This sucks. In fact, you couldn't pay me £5k to watch it.

He's long passed Marciano historically anyway. This won't hurt the sport, I'll be pretty shocked if McGregor goes the distance.

This fight could very well easily bomb out. Just because your a hardcore boxing fan. Don't kid yourself's into thinking the general public is that stupid they are going to welcome this fight with open arms.

What evidence have you seen yet to think this fight is going to be a big mega event. Mayweather getting 120 million. McGregor getting 70 million does not mean it's a mega event that the general public is going to buy.

ESPN had over 100,000 votes for whom was going to win in 2 days, Ward/Kovalev had like 3,000 in a month. What evidence do you have that it could potentially bomb? I've seen none.
