Fair dinkum for Horney but its bought shame on us-heres to the rematch

Post by Bricks »

Gday

Well that was good weren't it? Some Sheila who should've been fetching her bloke a tinnie ends up watching a boxing match and pacquiio gets robbed and now the rest of the world are saying once a bunch of bloody convicts and thieves and still a bunch of bloody convicts and thieves. ......jeez I don't know about you blokes but.... fair dinkum for Horney hes a decent bloke but cmon that's pretty rough. This Sheila roldan isn't even an aussie but its like horney got a mates discount.....I reckon a roo on 4x could've done a better job scoring the fight than that devo.

So cobbers what dya think will happen in a rematch? Give it a burl. Good onya bruce!

It seems like a fairly logical next fight for each, and Arum, who is fond of rematching his fighters, is already talking about it for late in the year. I'd say that's a good route for Horn, because aside from Floyd the other major players at 147 are weaker draws than Manny, but more dangerous.

I thought this fight was reasonably close but at no stage can I call a robbery. 7-5 either way with Manny winning the 9th 10-8. I only watched it at Suncorp on the day so maybe I have to sit down and watch it again to see why there are so many people calling a robbery.

Well apart from your psuedo Aussie lingo giving me the shits. I think that everyone has an opinion and good for you. Like many on this site I love the sweet science, had a crack at it in my younger days but was not really that good and i follow the fights religiously. Love the skill shown by modern day fighters and quite often disagree with the judges. But i had Horn winning this fight by 1 round, I agree that the female judge got it wrong just as I think Teddy Atlas did. His commentry was way over the top. Its like its all about him. If you have seen teddy broadcast you will know what I mean. He disagrees with the judges on most big fights where his favourite fighter gets beaten. Common denominator is him.
He obviously gave each close round to Manny. As did the first judge gave them to Horn. I think apart from round nine most rounds were close I thought that Horn won the twelth and on my card that gave him the win.
Now you are entitled to score it anyway you like but if you really thought that was a robbery I could direct you to fights that will blow the top of your head off. And oh, drop the 'accent' its pretty dopey

To be honest. Her scoring was far better than Teddy's. No way did Pac win that fight.

To suggest that Pac doesnt have a reasonable case for winning is nonsensical IMO; Id like to know which rounds you thought Horn won beyond doubt.

Incidentally, I recall that you also had Pac losing the first Bradley fight

Pac lost to Bradley. Pac lost to Horn. Pacman has lost several fights, many very close. Pac didnt win this fight - to suggest he did is nonsensical!!
117 111 was wider than i thought but at least it was for the right guy.

I thought Horn-Pac was very close and I can't see how there was clearly only one guy who had a good argument for winning.

I'd like to know the rounds you think Horn took without question, so I can rewatch some of them and see if I agree with you on another viewing.

i can tell you that watching on tv i really couldn't give pacman more than 1 round after the first 6.
i tried to convince myself after each of those 6 that pacman won the round but knew that he didn't.

i believe that pacman and roach knew when the fight was over that horn had done enough to win. i tend to go off that as an accurate guide as well.

WBO is having 5 people check the result on video but it won't change the result.

Gday mate heres to you you little ripper! The 4x is on me!!

Yeah I cant stand teddy atlas the little dunny rat. Hes always talking about "character" and "courage" or rather questioning it in other blokes. Atlas is a devo, he quit like a cowardly roo out of a pro career pretending to have a back problem....I don't know about u blokes but I reckon he didn't have the arsehole for it and since than hes been over compensating...like one of those sheilas with no bristols wearing one of ya push up bras

You can rewatch all you want. I was ringside and scored it round by round. I had Horn 115-113 . Possibly 116-112.
Pacquaio never looked comfortable in there with Jeff. He was missing wildly with shots. Horn was the aggressor and deserved the win.

Id say 8, 9, 11, and 12 couldve gone to Pac. I think 8 and especially 9 were clear, but the last two were tight and couldve swung either way.

Correct, Horn will still be the winner, though it could lead to an ordered rematch. I recall a re-scoring happening after the first Bradley-Pac fight, and all 5 judges had Pac winning: 115-113, 116-112, 117-111, 117-111, 118-110.

On the whole, that was rightfully regarded as a fight Pac clearly deserved to win though (the second fight was more competitive), while Horn-Pac was much closer and is much more balanced in terms of who people had winning.

I watched it again over the weekend. You could legit give Horn the first 6 maybe round 2 could go either way. Pac did nothing and the stats were ridiculous. Then...I lost track a bit but very close rounds except 9 which wAs obviously a big Pac round, 10 and 11 maybe went to Horn, prob 12 to Pac. My scorecard was pretty much opposite to Atlas.

Great effort by Horn, not such a great fight to rewatch to be honest. They talked about ineffective and effective aggression used to score, claiming Horn was ineffective. He shut Pacs offence off, he was effective, crude but effective. Also on second viewing I didnt think Horn was as rocked/hurt as I had originally. He had his feet on him most of the round..... still he lost that round big.

According to my reliable source, Manny ain't gonna take-up contracted rematch option - He (Senator) now wants to focus on homeland politics

Waleska Roland has nothing to do with Australia. She is an American who has judged over 500 fights. Check your facts before rushing to print and proving that you are a fool.
