It will make sense for Floyd to fight one of these guys at 154 lbs??

Hell no. GGG will kill Floyd. And Floyd knows he won a fixed fight vs Canelo and he has no chance to beat Canelo in a real fight. Both fights are impossible to happen.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a retired boxer. He’s only agreed to engage in the Conor McGregor spectacle, because he’ll be paid more than a $100m in order to face an opponent making his pro debut, coupled with the fact that this also enables him to improve his record to a highly-prestigious 50-0.apollo creed wrote:IF Golovkin or Canelo win decisively, will Floyd think moneywise at a fight with the winner?

Neither Canelo not Golovkin can guarantee that sort of payday for Money May… and let’s not forget that by the time he’s available to fight again, which he won’t do, but let’s pretend anyway…
Floyd would be a 41 year old man by the Cinco de Mayo weekend fight-date of 2018, which means that he wouldn’t have shared the ring with a genuine world-class opponent for two years and eight months... and you're really asking him to face the likes of Canelo or Golovkin who typically rehydrate 20lbs+ heavier than him!
Don’t you think it’s time to let it go and allow Floyd to enjoy his retirement? You’re asking incredibly unreasonable things!
Simply put: what you’re proposing is utter fúckíng lunacy! It makes absolutely no “sense” whatsoever!
Re: IF Golovkin or Canelo win decisively, will Floyd think moneywise at a fight with the winner?
If Floyd wanted a real fight he'd have fought Brook, Thurman, Spence, or Porter instead of Andre Berto... And he wouldn't be fighting McGregor.
Re: IF Golovkin or Canelo win decisively, will Floyd think moneywise at a fight with the winner?
in a short answer: NOT A CHANCE!
This fight with McGregor is a pure money fight, little risk, Huge hype behind the fight since both can seriously sell a show and an even bigger pay day for both men.
Mayweather has done all he has to if he want's to prove he is one of the pound for pound greats of all time, no one can dispute that, but taking a massive risk in both his reputation, legacy and his health for a much smaller payday against a more massively improved and better developed Canelo Alvarez or a monster like GGG ? it'd be crazy to even think about it.

Floyd is done, he called out for a 250 million dollar sparring session and he accepted. That's the end.
Re: IF Golovkin or Canelo win decisively, will Floyd think moneywise at a fight with the winner?
If Alvarez beat Golovkin and Mayweather would be turning 41 by the time the rematch happened, having not anyone but gatekeepers and MMA fighters for 3 years by the time of the rematch (May 2018); I don't see why Floyd would be eager to take that fight. Mayweather 4.5 years older (in a bad way), Alvarez 4.5 years older (in a good way).
On the other hand, if Golovkin beat Alvarez, I think Mayweather really would have 0 interest.
Frankly, to imply that a 41-year-old Mayweather would fight the Alvarez - Golovkin winner is giving him way too much credit. I don't seem to remember Mayweather ever looking to fight Pavlik, Abraham, Hopkins, Pirog, or Martinez. Why would he go hunting for a middleweight killer now that he's 40? When Mayweather isn't trying to maximize his risk-reward ratio, he's looking for utterly guaranteed wins. I can think of so many fighters who would present a risk-reward ratio that is more attractive for Mayweather.
Errol Spence: Less risk than the Alvarez - Golovkin winner, and really solid reward.
Keith Thurman: Possibly less risky than Spence, but slightly less rewarding.
Terence Crawford: Probably similar risk as Thurman, and possibly more rewarding.
Jeff Horn: Probably less risk than all of the above, and decently rewarding.
Amir Khan: Absolutely 0 risk. Not very rewarding, but Khan is a decent draw considering how bad he is.
Mikey Garcia: Also 0 risk. Probably more rewarding than Khan.
Vasyl Lomachenko: Probably also 0 risk. Likely highly rewarding.
Adrian Broner: If Mayweather fought Berto, I see no reason why he wouldn't also fight Broner.
Terry Flanagan: Again, if Mayweather would stoop to fighting Berto in 2015, and he's fighting non-boxers in 2017, then he might be looking for someone way worse than Berto to fight in 2018. I figure that at welterweight, Flanagan might be worse than or comparable to Berto, and he obviously has more name value than some Joe Schmoe welterweight like Leonard Bundu.
If I had to guess who a 41-year-old Mayweather would want as an opponent after an 0-0 MMA fighter, I'd guess Vasyl Lomachenko. 130-pound hype sensation. That's free money.

I would have said no up until recently, but this news could change the landscape!!apollo creed wrote:It will make sense for Floyd to fight one of these guys at 154 lbs??
http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/1 ... y-reprieve
Floyd Mayweather says he can't pay off his 2015 tax liability until after he gets money from his Aug. 26 fight against Conor McGregor.
The boxer filed a Tax Court petition on July 5 that asks the IRS to allow him a reprieve until the fight.
"Although the taxpayer has substantial assets, those assets are restricted and primarily illiquid," the petition said, according to the legal website Law360. "The taxpayer has a significant liquidity event scheduled in about 60 days from which he intends to pay the balance of the 2015 tax liability due and outstanding."
It is not known how much money Mayweather owes, but the IRS had previously argued that Mayweather had the resources to pay it immediately, even if it meant selling property or taking out a loan, Law360 reported.

Haymon paid Canelo a $5m BONUS to play soft with Floyd - google Al Haymon sex tape for the info -DannyMCR wrote:A fixed fight?montrealsuper wrote:Hell no. GGG will kill Floyd. There is no way Mayweather comes close to a winner by a stoppage. He is an old retired boxer even though he was a great one years ago.
Re: IF Golovkin or Canelo win decisively, will Floyd think moneywise at a fight with the winner?
No. GGG is way too big, f#&_\/s him up real bad. Floyd want nothing of this. But a 100 mill payday against a slow guy he already beat easily, yes he could face Canelo.

I guess haymon should have paid maidana.a 5 m bonus, cause he was hard on floyd.
Re: IF Golovkin or Canelo win decisively, will Floyd think moneywise at a fight with the winner?
Absolutely not. Fans need to stop thinking that Floyd is now going to be back full time. He's 40 years old. He's retired and this is just an aberration that he's coming back to fight Conor for stupid money. That's the only reason why he's back.apollo creed wrote:It will make sense for Floyd to fight one of these guys at 154 lbs??

You are right. Once speed and reflexes start to go, a guy like Floyd is in trouble. Roy Jones, however a different style, relied on reflexes and speed, and found out he should have retired. After McGregor, Floyd is done.
Re: IF Golovkin or Canelo win decisively, will Floyd think moneywise at a fight with the winner?
What Roy Jones Jr is doing inside the ring these days is beyond comprehension. For the most part, I love him as an analyst for HBO. He's not very well spoken but it's more about what he says than how he says it. Paulie M is a douche but he does the same for me as well. Both guys open my eyes to things happening inside the ring that I wouldn't have known otherwise. Roy hasn't mentioned what his goal with continuing to fight is? If it's not to win a title then why do it? Maybe he's broke like all boxers end up someday.Badhusker wrote:caldo2025 wrote:Absolutely not. I really hope Floyd's reflexes slowed down a lot to make this fight even remotely interesting. The Floyd that demolished Berto would get Conor out of there pretty quickly I feel. But i really think Floyd is juicing so we won't see much of a dip in performance. He's way too confident for this fight that to me, would be scary as hell if i were Floyd. Aside from the money, he's in a no win situation. You've gotta be confident to put yourself in this situation. That's why i'm trying not to get caught with the Conor madness and giving him a chance to win the fight. I'll still be pulling for Conor but not expecting much out of him come fight night.
