Tyson Fury to return in World Title fight in September?

Post by chad »

Peter Fury was on Bunces Boxing Hour earlier tonight saying Tyson Fury could be back as early as September on the undercard of Hughie Fury Vs. Joseph Parker.

Peter advised their legal team are looking to overturn Tyson's suspension. Peter made it very clear if Tyson returns there will be no warm up fight. He will be straight in for a version of the world title.

The WBA regular title is vacant. Shannon Briggs was supposed to face Fres Oquendo but the fight got scrapped after Briggs failed a drugs test.

I looks likely Tyson Fury will face Fres Oquendo for the vacant WBA title on the undercard of Hughie and Parker.

Peter hopes to get Tyson down to 20 stone for the fight.

The event will allegedly take place on ITV Box Office. Could see this one being a big hit with the casuals.

If he does come back in September he'll turn a lot of heads when he comes back, for one reason or another anyway.

Honestly I like the attention he brings to the boxing world, love him or hate him, he gets people talking and he has an everyday man appeal to him.
I'd honestly rather he didn't fight at the world level straight away just to shake off the ring rust after such a long lay off for everything that's happened to him since his last fight but if he can pull it off it'll be a real upset to say the least.

The big O hasn't fought for as long as Fury has he?
44 years old and out of the ring since a loss 3 or so years back. Or am I missing something here?

Congratulations to Team Fury for putting this one together. This is the easiest possible "title fight" he could ever come back into. I doubt a comebacking fighter has ever had a sweeter cherry handpicked for him than this.

Right. So I wasn't missing something. I want to watch the Huey Jo fight so I guess I will be seeing this one as well.

Fury vs Andre Ward for the Vacant WBA Amazing Heavyweight Title.

Fury's shorts will be around his nipples.

Fight will be a draw.

As usual, I'll believe it when I see it. Would be good to have him back in the mix though. But not on ITV PPV please.

 not really.

I won't believe any Fury comeback is on until he steps in the ring.

IMO he needs 2-3 undercard fights on shows which will sell without him ( Warrington in Leeds for example) This shows people that he is actually taking boxing seriously again.

People who had tickets for that Wlad rematch were messed around big time and I don't think they will be rushing to get tickets to see him comeback straight away.

Either way, Briggs also said he would come back in september, when he expects Wada to realise what's really going on.

Agree with this. Fury is well known but he's not a big ticket seller. The people backing him seem to have massively overrated his popularity.

Also, how many 2017 comeback dates is this now? Four? His team need to stopping believing they can just make stuff up and expect people to believe it. It makes them look completely amateur hour.

I can't believe Shannon Briggs was in line for a crack at the WBA. What an embarrassment for them.

I think Tyson's popularity has gone up massively since he has been out. Euro's, jumping the gate etc seems to have been embraced by "the lads". People love him. And I'm being serious.

I think you're sorely mistaken. Your average punter thinks he's a fat joker and all they're interested in is seeing Joshua smash him to bits.

There's also the fact that his last fight was given the full box office promotional treatment, providing him with his biggest audience ever, and the fight was an absolute travesty. A round of jagerbombs on twitter isn't going to change that. Joshua's fight against Wlad being a thriller hasn't helped either.

Tyson Fury must be aiming to become Amir Khan's tribute act.

A lot of social media & jibber jabber, but not a lot of fighting, as his prime disappears into a pi$$ pot! :witzend:
