I have been helping to train fighters at a local gym and the head trainer says that I should do the ABA level 1 coaching course.
Can anyone tell me what it entails
Takes place over two weekends apparently

Re: ABA coaching course
It's a very good course. Did mine at The Solly in Liverpool.
In a nutshell you are shown the textbook way of performing/demonstrating:
Basics of Boxing stance
How to throw a jab to the head or body
How to throw a back hand to the head or body
Basic hand defences/arm defences
Basics of planning a training session/lesson.
It also covers the basics of safeguarding children.
I did mine about 4 years ago so I've probably missed some of the details, but generally this is what is covered.

I agree it was a very good course and I think you've covered everything including safe guarding children.
When we were being instructed on safe guarding children the room hushed.
The inclusion of skills bouts for kids is a brilliant idea by the ABA that didn't exist when I boxed in the 70's
There were coaches who'd boxed when I had including the Scousers who were running the course, good lads.
There were 4 girls on the course and 3 of them have been national champions.
I thought the course was great and the camaraderie was superb.
I did my level 2 the year after and that was great too.
