Big fight no doubt, huge step up from Saunders last outing. The winner will no doubt get paid handsomely to lose to Canelo if Oscar gets his way.
In fact everything's going great in Oscar world with the other Sep16 fight already sold out, just this pesky GGG guy standing in the way of future plans.
But its OK, he's getting old, he's getting slow, and he didn't look so good in his last two bouts. Besides Canelo has already assured everyone that he's going to knock this nuisance out.

Thatta girl! Was that so hard? Look at you...you completed a post without cutting and pasting one thing and you actually used your own words and thoughts for a change. Simply put: you are WRONG and you have absolutely NO knowledge whatsoever of this subject matter!
In that same time, GGG defeated Lemieux-Brook-Wade-Jacobs....so whatever you want to say, Billy Joe is a paper champion and he's doing all he can to hold onto the belt for as long as he can.

Coming from a guy that thinks Povetkin is the greatest heavyweight in history, maybe you should stop giving boxer reviews here. Goof.Mexi-Box wrote:Why are you still allowed to post here? I never said Povetkin is the greatest heavyweight in history. I'm just a fan of his, and he would easily be competitive in any era. He became a throwback fighter after he lost to Klitschko. Dude went on a gauntlet: Charr, Takam, Perez, Wach, Duhaupus, and Rudenko. Everyone should appreciate that he fights anyone.caldo2025 wrote:Coming from a guy that thinks Povetkin is the greatest heavyweight in history, maybe you should stop giving boxer reviews here. Throwaway fighter you mean. I think it's hilarious how you call Charr, Takam, Perez, Each, Duhaupus and Rudenko a, excuse me i'm laughing too hard to type, a GAUNTLET. Not one of these guys will ever come close to any kind of HOF ballot. This is why all of you Povetkin nitwits get laughed at so much here. The guy sucks and he's a habitual drug offender. He doesn't deserve 1mg of space on any site. Nor do you nitwits.Mexi-Box wrote:I never said Povetkin is the greatest heavyweight in history. You won't admit to being wrong about your original claims, even though the facts of reality clearly contradict your opinion.
You can't undermine my accurate portrayal of the actual real-world events, so you attack me personally instead, as well as moving the discussion to a different subject matter.
Whenever I read your insults, it fills me with joy, because your words can be translated by anyone possessing a mere modicum of intellect, as a clear indication of your frustration at being compelled to admit defeat.
Thank-you my friend.

Name me one HW currently with a better, deeper resume than Povetkin (other than Klitschko).caldo2025 wrote:Throwaway fighter you mean. I told you EO, i didn't read it. I'm not going to read 1000 words you cut and paste and pass off as your opinion. I"m assuming that you "proved" that this is a great fight and that you wouldn't miss it for the world? Good for you buddy. Have at it. I"m glad that someone is excited about this crap that someone is selling. I won't watch it. Billy Joe will continue to be unknown and make shat for money because he continues to be a waste of a champion. Slick Willie is no good bro. His record was built on no names and now he's doing his best Special Delivery Jones where he loses to everyone and makes the most money he can get on his way out. That's all he is. SD Jones from the WWF back in the day. Look it up...he'd look good against the best wrestlers for a couple of minutes before getting pinned by all of them.Enlightened-One wrote:Blah... blah... blah...caldo2025 wrote:Thatta girl! Are you upset because I absolutely decimated your criticism of Saunders’ for the calibre of opposition he has faced since 2016, using facts and logic that you cannot possibly undermine? I’m surprised that you haven’t learned by now that I am always able to defend my words by citing 100% irrefutable evidence.caldo2025 wrote:I told you EO, i didn't read it. That scrolling through trollville was grueling. Decent fight.

I'm still waiting for your concrete proof that Calzaghe ducked Froch.. I'm interested in seeing what you were referring to.Enlightened-One wrote:Are you upset because I absolutely decimated your criticism of Saunders’ for the calibre of opposition he has faced since 2016, using facts and logic that you cannot possibly undermine? Re: Billy Joe Saunders vs. Willie Monroe Jr. on September 16
I used to have a post that contained hyperlinks that proved Calzaghe fought opposition for smaller paydays than what he was being offered to face Froch, but they no longer work... I guess that's inevitable for articles prior to 2007.SFW wrote:I'm still waiting for your concrete proof that Calzaghe ducked Froch.. I spent about five minutes researching the following and can find loads of offers from Team Froch to Fwank Warren, for the Cazlaghe fight, which were subsequently rejected (from around 2006 to 2008)... here's just a few of them:
"Warren / Calzaghe camp turn down 1.5 Million pounds" (April 2007)
News reaches us that allegedly has turned down the first genuine, legally binding contract offer in the Froch V Calzaghe saga.
Word reaches us that 1.5m pounds ($3m) has been knocked back by Sports Network for Calzaghe to face the challenge of Carl 'the Cobra' Froch by Hennessy Sports.
"British Boxing: Joe Calzaghe vs Carl Froch PPV Super Fight In Negotiations" (18/04/2007)
“This is a marquee contest that needs to happen and options shouldn’t get in the way. As such, I have attempted to put all the confusion to one side and made an offer to stage the fight in either July or September.
“I feel the offer was very generous. If you take the amounts that the champion and challenger receive from WBO purse bids, (75/25%), my offer values the total fight at twice the amount of allegedly’s. It would also result in Joe Calzaghe receiving 6 times the amount of Sports Network’s offer to Carl.”
Unfortunately, the proposal has already been knocked back.
“Within an hour of sending the offer, it was turned down by their matchmaker,” said Hennessy a short while ago.
"Carl Froch Undergoes Successful Surgery" (02/05/07)
British and Commonwealth super middleweight champion Carl Froch has gone under the knife to rectify a long-term ligament problem after WBO champion Joe Calzaghe refused a £1.6 million offer to defend against him on a Hennessy Sports event this summer.
"Carl £5m Joe offer" (29/10/2008)
JOE Calzaghe may be tempted to KO all thoughts of hanging up his gloves by a staggering £5m offer to fight his big British rival Carl Froch.
The undefeated Welshman has said he is set to quit the ring after his light-heavyweight clash with Roy Jones Jnr in New York’s Madison Square Garden on Saturday week.
Froch’s promoter Mick Hennessy has made two previous offers to tempt Calzaghe into the ring to fight his man, who is unbeaten in 23 contests
"Victorious Froch wants Calzaghe" (07/12/2008)
Carl Froch and his promoter Mick Hennessy will try to tempt Joe Calzaghe into one last fight by offering the Welshman a deal he cannot refuse.
Hennessy offered Calzaghe £5m to fight Froch earlier in the year. Calzaghe instead took a fight with Roy Jones Jr, but Froch's promoter said he would return with an increased offer in an attempt to secure the fight.
"Froch to improve Calzaghe offer" (07/12/2008)
Carl Froch has reiterated his desire to take on the undefeated Joe Calzaghe and says it is the fight 'all of Britain wants.'
Froch's promoter Mick Hennessy had tried to tempt Calzaghe earlier this year with a £5m offer, but has now revealed that he is prepared to up the deal.
Re: Billy Joe Saunders vs. Willie Monroe Jr. on September 16
I'm not so sure it will be a great fight, competitive yes, but as they say, styles maketh the fight. And Monroe is not going to trade with BS, and BS is a long time out from facing a 'live' opponent. BS will also have past injury concerns at the back of his mind coupled with top level ring rust.Kalan wrote:I love this match-up if it comes off... I think it will be competitive and a great fight.
I'm not saying he is going to lose, but I do not think this is going to be anything special. Which is what Billy really needs to get his career back on track after the layoff.
He has a belt, and it's great, but he is not in the public eye outside of the UK for now.
