Visiting a movie site the other day, I came across the following in a mini-biography of Arthur Mullard (1912-1995), the popular British film and TV comedy actor of the 40s, 50s and 60s:
"He left school at 14 to work as a butcher's boy. At 18 he joined the Army and became his regiment's boxing champion. After leaving the Forces he became a professional boxer for a brief period."
That would, presumably, have been in the early to mid-thirties.
I haven't succeeded in tracing his record as a pro boxer (surprising in view of the number of 'one-fight wonders' who figure on boxrec.com), so I was wondering if anybody can enlighten me any further on Mr Mullard's boxing career.
