Errol Spence (22-0, 19 KOs) is hoping to make the first defense of his title this fall in his native Dallas. While an opponent, date and venue haven't been set, Spence is looking forward to the prospects of fighting at home.
While Spence is looking forward to homecoming bout, he said that he is more than willing to bypass a Texas fight if he can secure one of the division's big names.
One of those big names is former two division world champion Danny Garcia (33-1, 19 KOs), who last saw action in March when he lost a twelve round decision in a unification showdown with Keith Thurman
Spence is very interested in facing Garcia. The two boxers are both advised by Al Haymon and fight under the Premier Boxing Champions umbrella.
"Everyone at home is behind me and supporting me and hopefully I fight in Dallas but if not, if a Danny Garcia fight happens or something like that, then I am willing to fight outside of Dallas but hopefully I can fight in Dallas in my next fight," said Spence.
As for the time frame of his next fight, Spence wants to step in the ring in October at the very latest.
"Hopefully I can fight in September or early October but hopefully it's September," Spence explained.

I like this fight, shouldn't be hard.. PBC can make this happen and spoil us some more.

We need more champions like Spence. Old school courage, and doesn't say it's up to his promoter or if the money is right.

IBF has a pretty solid mandatory coming up when Ocampo and Ponomarev fight, last I read. He should be looking for a tougher fight than a pushover in Dallas anyways. I'd like to see him fight Lamont Peterson. I don't think he has anything lined up, but I have my doubts it happens. IIRC, Peterson is the mandatory Thurman's belt. I don't think he's going to risk his position.

If Spence takes the WBA title off Peterson, that makes him mandatory to Thurman..Mexi-Box wrote:IBF has a pretty solid mandatory coming up when Ocampo and Ponomarev fight, last I read. But I don't think it will happen.. Kind of like how, Sosa conveniently vacated his Regular WBA title before fighting Lomachenko..
Maybe the WBA don't allow the Regular title to be unified. I don't know. Because then it would become Super?
WBA really need to sort this out

Spence to win vs Garcia
By stoppage or decision is questionable as while I don't rate Garcia too highly, he is a tough guy. Spence has clear size advantage though and could really make his muscle show in this one
I voted by stoppage

Spence stops Danny... But I don't think that fight is ever going to be made because I don't think Danny wants to be knocked out..
Also Peterson.. I don't think Lamont Peterson wants any part of Errol Spence. He'd be looking at a brutal beat-down that could end him.

Spence should handle Danny without too much trouble but I dont think a KO will be easy...maybe a 40% chance.
