Can Witter unify 140?

He is line to fight for the vacant WBC belt, Hatton's IBF belt is now also vacant and I suspect his WBA will soon be as well and Cotto will be moving up soon which opens up the WBO route as well. So with Hatton, Mayweather and Cotto all soon abandoning the division it makes it a pretty weak division all round with probably Witter near the top. Vivian Harris would be the only other guy with a shot at unification out of the remaining lot and will prob be in line to pick up at least one of the vacant belts.

I don't think he'll get past Corley myself.

He can beat Corley and should Rabah win the IBF he could beat him , but neither fight would be a certainty(especially Corley) .

I just get the feeling he would eventually come unstuck if he kept unifying titles , even if he doesn't fight Harris .

Seriously we don't know how good Witter can be. He seems to have the talent but has some weaknesses. If he can overcome them he can certainly beat Corley, Rabah and I'd favour him against Harris. Castillo and Corrales could be winnable career defining fights too.

Aren't you getting a bit ahead of yourself, the guy hasn't even won one title yet, let alone 3.

I'm not so sure he will even beat Corley tbh.

I agree, he has looked very poor the last few times I have seen him fight, certainly not good enough to unify a division, even if most of the talent does leave to move up to 147!

I fancy either Castillo or Coralles to step up to 140 and claim a belt or 2 between them!

I think Witter/Corley is a 50/50 fight, i see them about equal in terms of ability and not too dissimilar in style either. Hopefully Witter can get past Chop Chop and win the WBC...is the fight straight for the WBC belt? If so what has Corley done to deserve a shot exactly?

Spot on, its typical of the WBC - they are a fornicating joke.

How long has Witter been number 1 contender or at least been scheduled to fight in a WBC title eliminator? Not once have the WBC insisted that their champion (whether it was Gatti or Mayweather) fights him.

Yet, now Witter is finally fighting for the vacant title apparently the WBC have ordered the winner of him and Corley to immediately defend against the new mandatory.

Witter has had the piss ripped out of him.

I'm convinced it'll shape up like Eastman-Joppy.

He'll have chances to win (maybe an early knockdown), his stamina will be found wanting and he'll lose 115-113 on all cards, and forever claim he was robbed.

I wouldn't be that shocked if he lost his Euro title 'warm up'.

I agree, Witter has waited ages for his chance which he has earned and then finally they get round to giving him a shot they put him in with an unworthy like Corley. Don't get me wrong Corley is a skilled fighter and when he puts his punches together can be very exciting but he lost in 5 to Cotto and rebounded with wins over Kevin Carter 9-45-1 and a certain Johnny Walker 18-17 who had previously lost to John Murray. WTF????

Agreed. If he get's there, Witter must discourage/hurt Corley to win this one.

Agree with steve and liamlion as well.
