It would've been much fair if Floyd vs Conor fight was made on K1 rules
Re: It would've been much fair if Floyd vs Conor fight was made on K1 rules
No it isn't... They tried to get the smallest concessions from Floyd... "No wrestling, takedowns, or submissions - just strikes." "No way" ... "No wrestling, takedowns or subsubmissions, ebows, knees, or feet." "No way"... "Just hand strikes using MMA gloves." "No way" ... "Just hand strikes using MMA gloves with no backfists or hammer blows. Just Queensberry Rules strikes." "No way"
"Okay, what do you propose as a counter offer???" ... "A straight up boxing match using gloves of Mayweather's choice and Queensberry Rules."
"Fine. Let's do it your way."

So McGregor wanted to fight a boxing match against Floyd but wanted to do MMA actions too and MMA gloves too? Prove it. I think that's simply lies.Kalan wrote:No it isn't... as silly as the current arrangement, apollo creed wrote:Straight up fight with fists, leg kicks and knees.
just the other way round.

You're been demoted from simpleton status to idiot... It took months for this fight be agreed to because Dana White wanted some kind of concessions for his guy... Conor wanted them too -- but he was more realistic in knowing he wasn't going to get any of them as Floyd held all the cards... As I said earlier, if White and McGregor wanted the money that this circus is certain to generate -- they had to do it Floyd's way or it wasn't happening.Covfefe wrote:So McGregor wanted to fight a boxing match against Floyd but wanted to do MMA actions too and MMA gloves too? The best way would be they box for a set number of rounds and if Conor survives it switches to mma.apollo creed wrote:Bottom line is I'd have paid for this fight only if it was on 'equal rules' , K1 or Muay Thai rules. It's like a 100m crawl contest between Michael Phelps vs Filip Filipovic or Tony Azevedo.

Or only elbows and knees allowed from clinching of course with mma gloves.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:The best way would be they box for a set number of rounds and if Conor survives it switches to mma.apollo creed wrote:Bottom line is I'd have paid for this fight only if it was on 'equal rules' , K1 or Muay Thai rules. McGregor called him out for a boxing match, now you're saying he wanted all these non-boxing advantages, I'm calling bull shit. Prove it or shut the fornicate up.
Re: It would've been much fair if Floyd vs Conor fight was made on K1 rules
I didn't say Conor wanted them...he wanted the money... "Who wouldn't dance around the ring with Floyd Mayweather for 180 Million dollars???" But Dana White blocked the fight for a long time because it wasn't fair to his guy... It was evident he'd eventually have to give in because Floyd wasn't going to give the slightest concession to MMA tactics in the fight... To make the fight 95% unfair for example instead of 100% unfair.
McGregor is going to try to look as good as possible... If he just beats the miserable expectations people have -- it will be a win of sorts. It's a money fight.

You talk some shit.
They approached Mayweather for a boxing match. Do you really think they tried to haggle him into anything other than boxing? If you do you're an idiot.
This was always going to be a boxing match.
Re: It would've been much fair if Floyd vs Conor fight was made on K1 rules
As I said... Dana White held the fight up for a very long time because he didn't want his man McGregor taking a bout where everything favored Floyd.

His man wanted a boxing match. What concessions did he think he'd get? Personally I think you're making it up entirely and don't have a clue why it was held up for a long time, though I did read ignore took a long time to get Floyd's details and end sorted out, though that's normal.
Re: It would've been much fair if Floyd vs Conor fight was made on K1 rules
You're insane... Conor is under contract with the UFC and there was no way the fight was going to happen without Dana White's permission and involvement. For a long time he said there was no way in Hell a straight up boxing match was going to happen. Finally he agreed to everything Floyd wanted because there's potentially an unbelievable amount of money involved. Money is a people mover.

Who is worried about fair? Not Conor. If he was he wouldn't have agreed to fight Floyd in a boxing match. This is about $$$. I'm sure Conor is going to try and beat Floyd. But when it's all said and done, Conor lost to the era's best boxer in a sport he doesn't participate in and he made millions.
Re: It would've been much fair if Floyd vs Conor fight was made on K1 rules
Let's put it this way, if Dana White went to Floyd Mayweather trying to negotiate anything other than a boxing match then he's the biggest idiot in the world. Personally I don't believe he's that stupid.Kalan wrote:You're insane...
