Billy Joe Saunders Could Be in Hot Water With British Board
Billy Joe Saunders is to have remarks he made on social media over the weekend examined at the next British Boxing Board of Control meeting.
Saunders has been criticised for posting a photo on his official Twitter account of a sales assistant working at a shopping centre in Sheffield wearing large gold earings accompanied by stubble and a ponytale.
Above the picture published on Sunday, the WBO world middleweight champion wrote: “Walking through Meadowhall Sheffield ”and see this (emoji) confused”.
Saunders has since insisted he is not homophobic in response to the condemnation, but refused to apologise and the BBBoC are to investigate the matter.
“The British Boxing Board of Control are aware of comments made by professional Boxer Billy Joe Saunders on social media and will consider the matter at their next Board meeting,” a statement read.
The Sheffield-based fighter, who is scheduled to return to the ring on September 16th at Copper Box in London, has apparently been reported to police for hate crime following the tweeting incident.
The tweet was directed at city shop assistant Jonny Marsh, who was sporting makeup, long hair and hoop ear-rings.
Saunders said Marsh was "confused" and that: "I don't think its right for kids to see." Saunders, 27, then blasted his critics that demanded he post a public apology.
He told his 92,000 followers: "Just to clear the homophobic rubbish up not at all in that way ' I won't apologise/ if you don't like it f*** off my Twitter EndOF."
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police has refused to confirm whether Saunders was being investigated and issued a short statement which read: "We can neither confirm nor deny the identity of any individual who may or may not be under investigation."

That's ridiculous.

BJS is a POS with a number of personal incidents which reflect negatively on him, but this seems laughably overblown. The police even being mentioned because of that tweet? lol....
The BBBofC should spend less time dealing with this type of boxer behavior and more time dealing with shitty officiating. It also irks me that a big deal was made out of the visiting judge who got the Burnett-Haskins fight wrong, with Robert Smith coming out and saying he won't be coming back to the UK, while inept guys like IJL continually get to work significant fights and screw things up. A-star boys club baby!

At a mutual press interview, just before their rematch, with the media recording every word, Hasim Rahman called Lennox Lewis "Gay"
Lewis got really angry. He got in Rahman's face and said, "Bring on your sister punk.. Bring on your sister.. Bring on your sister.." Then Lewis said, "Repeat that lie.. Call me gay again.." Rahman said "you know it." Lewis said "SAY IT!! .. SAY IT!! .. SAY IT !!" ... I think he would have torn his head off right there. They physically grabbed each other and a ton of reporters and hangers on separated them.
Lewis was still angry after the fight and called Rahman "Has Been Rahman" ... He refused to accept congratulations from Rahman or talk to him.

Re: Billy Joe Saunders Could Be in Hot Water With British Board
This article excludes some particularly pertinent tweets from Billy Joe Saunders that adds context to his thoughts, which I feel makes his headline-grabbing remarks far less offensive than the media’s portrayal.
Whilst I cannot endorse the Brit’s opinions and tweets about this matter, I feel that certain portions of the media have misrepresented his actual words.
The BBBofC should not involve themselves in this issue, since Saunders isn’t bringing the sport into disrepute, he isn’t spreading hatred and nor is he breaking any laws.
In my mind, even though I don’t share the opinion conveyed by Saunders’ tweets, I felt that what he wrote was merely politically incorrect, but certainly not bigoted.
Like everyone else living in the Western world, Billy Joe is entitled to free speech, to have the freedom to articulate a personal opinion, even if it’s an unpopular one.

Cubans live in the Western World and they're not entitled to it.. Neither are Mexicans if they say the wrong thing in Cartel dominated regions.. In the US and UK you can pretty much say what you like -- but hate speech isn't free speech. You can be held to account for hating on individuals or groupings.Enlightened-One wrote: Like everyone else living in the Western world, Billy Joe is entitled to free speech

Then it's not freedom of speech is it?Kalan wrote:but hate speech isn't free speech. You can be held to account for hating on individuals or groupings.
Only commies talk like that.

There you go with your ignorant hate speech again whorse.. You can't yell "FIRE!!!" in a theater to cause a panic.. You can't fling hateful "fighting words" and racist rhetoric at people because you don't like their color or nationality.. You can be arrested for disorderly conduct and the "fighting words" exception to the free speech articles of the Constitution.. You can't utter words that are likely to incite illegal conduct.

This is why they call themselves the British Boxing Board of Control. BBB of C is a bunch of fascistic control freaks who have no business legislating their Politically Correct agenda of what athletes do off the playing field/boxing ring.Ruthless-RKO wrote:Billy Joe Saunders is to have remarks he made on social media over the weekend examined at the next British Boxing Board of Control meeting.

Maybe BBB of C should go ALL IN and just change their name to British Boxing Board of Thought Police...

How exactly is MOCKING someone on Twitter "inciting illegal conduct"? Snowflakes are just too touchy these days and need to get over their thin-skinned whining!!Kalan wrote:There you go with your ignorant hate speech again whorse..
