Welterweight contender Lucas Matthysse is preparing to be the headliner on a card in November, when he hopes to advance his pursuit to secure a world title shot at 147-pounds.
According to his head coach, Joel Diaz, the tough Argentine puncher will undergo intensive training for two months in California before his next test, which could be in Argentina or the United States.
"We expect Lucas to fight in November, spearheading a big and important undercard. He'll probably be here in early September, starting the camp. Those are the plans, but I still do not have information about an exact day, nor the opponent that we'll have on that date," said Diaz, after the meeting he had in Argentina with manager Mario Arano.
The former interim-super lightweight beltholder will defend the Intercontinental title of the World Boxing Association and International belt of the World Boxing Organization - both of which he captured with his impressive knockout victory over Emmanuel Taylor in five rounds. That contest took place in May as part of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. undercard.
One of the main names on Matthysse's target list - is former two division world champion Danny Garcia. Back in 2013, Garcia won a twelve round decision over Matthysse on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather's huge fight with Canelo in Las Vegas.
