AJ pal, I think Parker might have the slight hand speed advantage but the sheer size of Joshua would lead me to thinking a stoppagewesshaw1985 wrote:if the fight were made today, who wins?

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker
Parkers hand speed poses Joshua issues
But Joshuas size may overcome it in the end if they fight
I think Hearn will make the Parker fight next if he doesn't make Pulev
Both opponents you can't call no hopers and they pose far less of a risk to Joshua than Ortiz, no matter what people say about him, and for that matter even Wilder tbh. Wilders boxing basics and fundamentals are awful but the punch he has on him will sway Hearn from making that fight anytime soon tbh. As sh*t as Wilder is IF he got caught Joshua clean I don't think he would recover, KO written all over it, and if he didn't get KOed and he got himself back to his feet Wilder would be swinging like a lunatic, probably with no grace or thought whatsoever, but in the state we've seen Joshua get in after he's hit clean that would stand for little and he'd be mullered so I can't see anything other than a Parker or a Pulev fight atm

It's intriguing to see the change in some regarding Joshua. Previously we didn't know anything about his chin bar Whyte, which suggested it was poor. Now he's been dropped by Wlad but still won the fight having taken some massive shots from a legit monster puncher, and the response is he took a while to recover so the question marks are still there.
It's completely evidence that unless he was displaying McCall levels of solidity these issues were never going to be put to bed by some people.

I think it's really clear his chin wasn't what let him down in the Klitschko fight. It was his concentration and stamina.dirk2686 wrote:It's intriguing to see the change in some regarding Joshua. One thing I was really disappointed to see was a lack of punching power variation. Calzaghe was good at this, perhaps because he had to be with his fragile hands, but he would throw some light punches before throwing a hard punch. It kept the opponent guessing, and he didn't have to use up so much energy.

Joshua's size will prevail in this matchup but AJ needs to work on his boxing and not just his size.

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker
Given Parkers gaping holes in his defence and being wide open to the left hook on the chin, even his granite chin can't withstand those shots from AJ after a few rounds
Expect him to do almost as well as Whyte, and not as bad as Martin.
It would be hilarious to see Eddie's face if he did win though.

I'd pick AJ over any Heavyweight at the moment. That doesn't necessarily mean for sure they'd all beat him...if he's as chinny as sparring reports claim I'm sure we'll find out one of these days, but for now I haven't seen anything that leads me to think Parker would be a serious threat.

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker
His stamina was definitely a bigger problem than his durability. He was terribly exhausted and could barely keep his arms up almost as soon as he opened up the first time, and he took several rounds after that to show any meaningful energy. Good on him for getting his steam back eventually, but his tank sure appeared to be small..Asterix wrote:I think it's really clear his chin wasn't what let him down in the Klitschko fight. Some have suggested that AJ coming back to win should make opponents less confident, but I think the Wlad fight gives the clearest possible route to victory we've seen against AJ so far. If the windmill man can get through a rough patch and still be standing with a tired AJ in front of him, I think he'll go for the kill with more gusto than Wlad did.
That said, I'd favour AJ to take him out before that became an issue...
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker
As for AJ-Parker, easy win for AJ. Parker has quicker hands, but is too small, too open, and not really a banger.
Good risk-reward fight for AJ IMO, as Parker's been hyped a bit and has a title (though he has to deal with Fury if that goes ahead), but isn't much of a threat.

Parker gets stopped.
Non existent defence vs Joshua.... you don't have to be a jip to know how this one will go

AJ wins in every single thing, size, speed, strength, even stamina, but Parker is the best step up out there for everyone who's planning to fight AJ.
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker
Just basing in on the opposition they've fought in winning the titles and defending them, Joshua has fought the more dangerous opponents and had to dig a lot deeper to hold onto them when he fought Wladimir Klitschko.
Parker on the other hand, it was a crushing first defence against a last second opponent and all due respect to Cojanu for taking the fight but he was never going to be ready to face Parker so soon if at all on the world level.
Depending on how well Parker does against Fury will say a lot about how the two can be compared to each other, will he completely overshadow Fury like he did to Cojanu or will he be tested ? That's what needs to be proved in his next defence.
Joshua on the other hand has proven he's a great champion, You can still argue between who is better between him and Wilder for the #1 heavyweight on the planet but between Parker and Joshua - Joshua has to be the favourite right now.

Parker has faster hands and has never gassed as quickly or seriously as AJ has.asdfjkl wrote:AJ wins in every single thing, size, speed, strength, even stamina, but Parker is the best step up out there for everyone who's planning to fight AJ.

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker
Parker hasn't looked great since winning the WBO in fairness but he's not been matched great either. Hughie could make anyone look like shite even in defeat so Parker needs a better dance partner, someone who will meet him centre ring and trade would bring out the best in him I think. If that someone was Anthony Joshua or maybe even Deontay Wilder however, I think JP loses his belt. His only chance would be to initiate a fire fight and get lucky in my view.
