Yup he made the right decision. Dirells are a waste of time.

James DeGale, Zurdo Ramirez and Benavidez are waited to join this awesome tournament! :OhYes:

It adds more star power to the tournament and really he has everything to gain and very little to lose by taking part.

Very smart move on his part, hopefully by the end of it we see him come away with more then one World title around his waist.

You think he can take Groves?
I'd like him to, but I'm not sure Georgie will let that belt go easy, it took a lot of blood, time, blood, sweat, some more blood, and tears to get it around his waist. He has also had more recent, and higher level fights.

Edited to add more blood as appropriate.

Man, SMW division is pretty bad. I'm not that excited for this tournament. CW is pure fire, though. Benavidez is fighting Dirrell for the title, last I read.

I read that Glowacki and Feigenbutz are reserved for WBSS. That's a dope, dope tournament. :yay: :box:

Honestly I like to see a good bloodbath as much as the next person but the fact that Smith hasn't had to make a lot of his fights go that way is more reason why I think he could stand a great chance against Groves right now.

I agree with what Degale said about groves being easier to hit, ever since his Froch fights he seemed to be trying to look for these big knockout punches and turning fights into slugging matches when before in his commonwealth title days he seemed much more fluid and relaxed to outbox someone and beat them over the distance and his current coaching staff are turning back the clock and making him box like that again but against Chudinov he had to take the fight to him and he wound up injured and needed to take time off when all was said and done, in the long run excessive damage will add up to shorten his career.

Depending on how Groves come back from the injury will see how he's improved or not and I have to question weather he will beat Cox right now.
I say this because whenever he talks himself up there is always a big let down or he badly underestimates them / overestimates himself and viewing Cox as an easy opponent in any sense at such an early stage and looking past him is just setting himself up for a fall in this 'Super series'.

I see your logic and agree, adding that Callum has reach and height over George allowing him to fight it on the outside.
George has a great jab, but often he abandons that trying for the KO. If Callum can control the fight on the outside, dig to George's body and not get dragged into a war- there is a chance he can do it.

Couldn't agree with you more there and Smith still has that undefeated reputation behind him that does give you that mental edge when a fight becomes harder.
Groves has been beaten and Smith hasn't so it's who ends up being who is the mentally as well as physically stronger. If George lets his pride come before his coaches instructions and tactics as well it just leaves him in a worse position, especially when so much is riding on holding that world title right now.
