Sky have announced a big reorganization of their Sky Sports channels .

Details in the article below and, also, on the Sky website (http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/sports/new-s ... sky_sports). Going forward, it looks like boxing will be on Sky Sports Action and Sky Sport Arena (don't quote me on this, but as far as I can tell Sky Sports Action and Sky Sports Arena count as one channel in the pricing model).

Sky Sports announce dedicated channels for Premier League, football, cricket, golf and F1

Sky Sports today confirmed changes to their line-up of channels.

From July 18th, 2017, Sky will expand its service with 10 sports channels, giving customers more choice, at no extra cost.

The line-up will include new channels dedicated to some of the biggest sports including Sky Sports Premier League, Sky Sports Football, Sky Sports Golf, Sky Sports Cricket, Sky Sports F1, Sky Sports Action, Sky Sports Arena, Sky Sports Main Event, along with Sky Sports Mix and Sky Sports News.

“We’re dedicating channels to some of our biggest sports, launching a new way to watch the best live action and offering even better digital products too,” said Barney Francis, Managing Director of Sky Sports.

“Sky Sports is giving customers even more choice and channels at the same price for another 12 months, while opening up new ways for sports fans to join. If you love Premier League, you can enjoy it for as little as 60p a day or you can have the full Sky Sports package for less than £1.”

Pricing

The new package of ten channels and an unrivalled schedule of live sport is available for the same price (£27.50 per month), which will remain frozen for 12 months. Existing customers will receive the new Sky Sports package automatically and the new channels will replace the existing line-up.

For the first time, Sky Sports will also offer something for fans not looking for the full breadth of sports, but are interested in specific sports. The new line-up is designed to grow this customer base and offers flexibility to subscribe to individual channel packages at a new price. One channel pack will be available for just £18 per month, two for £22 and three for £26.

What a load of old bullocks from Sky.

A way of them showing pretty much exactly the same amount of sport as they already do, but spreading it over more channels, so they can pretend they have a reason to charge more money for it.

I always thought having a whole channel dedicated to Formula 1 was pretty spasticated, as that's only on Friday through to Sunday, every other week. But again, Sky can charge for having extra channels, so they make them where it isn't needed.

I wonder what happens with my Virgin deal where currently I'm contracted to all Sky Sports HD channels. I assume I'll just simply continue getting all the new channels.

No they are saying the price is "frozen" for 12 months. Have a think about when things get unfrozen with the prices they are quoting already.

No they are saying the price is "frozen" for 12 months. Have a think about when things get unfrozen with the prices they are quoting already.

It goes up every single year anyway. If you keep all the Sky Sports channels it will cost you the same as it does right now (until the next price increase). Buy it or don't but Sky has always been expensive. I quite like the idea of being able to choose specific channels showing sports I like but to save £9 p/m on top of Sky sub I might as well just keep the whole thing for now.

There are no plans at the moment for the channels to be offered in the same way as SKY will. Basically nothing changes on Virgin Media apart from new channel names and channels being added.

Exactly. And this on top of the mixed-quality PPVs, the Eurosport brinkmanship a few months back, and the fact that the price is already pretty high.
