Boxing on 07/15 boxing is stacked

Post by Lackeos »

I just want to point out a fact that may be woefully underappreciated. On 07/15, we have...
Thammanoon Niyomtrong vs Rey Loreto (5-star)
Chris Eubank vs Arthur Abraham (5-star)
Miguel Berchelt vs Takashi Miura (5-star)
Jezreel Corrales vs Robinson Castellanos (5-star)
Lee Selby vs Jonathan Victor Barros (4-star)
Joe Smith Jr vs Sullivan Barrera (4-star)
Omar Figueroa Jr vs Robert Guerrero (4-star)
Marcus Browne vs Sean Monaghan (3-star)
Artur Szpilka vs Adam Kownacki (3-star)

Not to mention there is also...
Robbie Davies Jnr vs Michal Syrowatka (3-star)
Kid Galahad vs Jose Cayetano (3-star)

That's mindblowing. I can't think of how many years it's been since there's been this many 4-star and 5-star fights in one day.

It's almost too much....I'll be glued to the screen all day, will get nothing else done, and will probably end the day with eye strain and a headache

I disagree with some of your star ratings, but I do agree it's whole day of great boxing. Been a good year for the sport.

Yeah, I think you've just abused the *star* system more than boxrec normally does, or is this the actual boxrec *star* rating itself?

The Inglewood card is absolutely rock solid to the bottom. Wish I could be there. Seems like a setup for a SFeather unification. The Eubank Jr v Abraham card is super strong too.

Where are the droves of boohoo birds who have cawed "BOXING IS DEAD!! BOXING IS DEAD!!!" over and over and over and over again for most of their adult lives?

I have access to HBO so that is what I will be watching tonight.

I am anxious to see if Jezreel Corrales will be a good opponent for Lomachenko in the future, I have seen him fight on youtube before and he looked pretty tough.

Joe Smith vs Barrera also definitely interesting, I think Barrera gets him and Smith should have taken his time with more easy fights before stepping up to this level but hey, i'm excited to watch this fight.

and I don't know what to think about the main event on the HBO fight.

Anyone think castellanos has a chance to pull the upset over corrales? I have honestly never seen corrales fight but castellanos is better than his record shows. The odds are very tempting and its always fun to have a couple bucks on a fight if you are watching it.

I am definitely merely quoting the boxrec star ratings as they appeared at the time of the post.

was that stopped too early?

I only say that because it seemed like Szpilka was being cocky with his hands down and got punished for it and on the second attempt from Kownacki I think the ref believed Szpilka was more hurt than he was?

fantastic win for Kownacki though, every credit

it was 100% legit stoppage, Szpilka was unable to continue or defend himself.
Kownacki seems to be pretty heavy handed and throws a lot of punches, for Szpilka it is end of serious boxing career and i think he will fight in MMA in Poland for good money in ppv vs Pudzianowski or something like that lol

Predictable ass whooping by Browne. This makes that black Serbian guy who got robbed against Browne look good. Forget his name. Starts with a K.

I like Spzilka, but he's not that good. The fact that he's a certain high ranked Heavyweights best win goes to re-affirm what everyone knows.

Kownacki still seems very raw. It would have been interesting to see if he could have kept that pace. I'm far from sold on him, but he took care of Spzilka better than Jennings or Wilder.

Poor Seanie Monaghan is terrible. That fight was tough to watch.
