Edison Miranda the Rodrigo Valdez of the 21th century

Post by kovit »

Recently Edison Miranda the Colombian puncher scored the seventh round TKO victory over Howard Eastman to earn a shot at Arthur Abraham's IBF middleweight title. If Miranda beat Abraham he would the first Colombian middleweight champion since Rodrigo Valdez. Both Miranda and Valdez have something in common, both are from Colombian, and both are big punchers. Miranda said he would knockout any fighters from the 160lbs division. Man Miranda fights like he's Rodrigo Valdez.

Miranda has had one meaningful fight...one fight that showed a major weakness that someone like Taylor, or any other good fighter with a bit of aggression can take full advantage of, which was how low Miranda carries his left. There is no doubt that he can really punch, but that alone never takes a fighter to the top and with Miranda's shaky defense he will be very fortunate if he can make it through a bout with someone who can really punch, which should be his next bout, that is if he fights Abraham next and he is no where near being close to Rodrigo Valdez...in fact, he is about 10 meaningful wins away from being able to be mentioned alongside of Valdez!!

Rodrigo Valdez was a much, much better all-around fighter
than Edison Miranda.
