Is the Fury v Parker going to be a hard sell?

It is difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room, especially if its not there.

Ive read its now doubtful that Tyson Fury will be fighting. I'm sure a lot of ticket buyers (including myself) only bought a ticket to get a chance to see Tyson's return.

It's a fight between a novice who hasn't fought anyone of note against a guy from the other side of the world for a World Title that nobody seems to care about on a channel that hardly anyone subscribes to.

You're not exactly selling it to me.the_doctor wrote:It's a fight between a novice who hasn't fought anyone of note against a guy from the other side of the world for a World Title that nobody seems to care about on a channel that hardly anyone subscribes to.

He hasn't got a licence so how could he have been on the bill? That and being 25+ stone.mimmy123 wrote:Ive read its now doubtful that Tyson Fury will be fighting. I'm sure a lot of ticket buyers (including myself) only bought a ticket to get a chance to see Tyson's return.
Re: Is the Fury v Parker going to be a hard sell?
These Tyson rumors remind me of the 'huge fight in UAE/exotic location X' rumors. Not going to happen soon IMO....

There was never a doubt that he wouldn't be fighting.mimmy123 wrote:Ive read its now doubtful that Tyson Fury will be fighting. I'm sure a lot of ticket buyers (including myself) only bought a ticket to get a chance to see Tyson's return.

OK, how about they are pretty even in height, reach, power and skill and at least Parker can go 12 no problem?Sklar wrote:You're not exactly selling it to me.the_doctor wrote:It's a fight between a novice who hasn't fought anyone of note against a guy from the other side of the world for a World Title that nobody seems to care about on a channel that hardly anyone subscribes to.
And most people rate it as a 50/50 or 45/55 to Parker fight?
Personally I think a lot hinges on the undercard to sell this fight. So let's hold on to a bit of optimism and wait for the full card to be announced?
Re: Is the Fury v Parker going to be a hard sell?
Sort of shows 2 things ,
1 --- Hughie Fury genuinly is a uninteresting boring fighter , who no one gives a hoot about .
2 --- Furys and the promoter genuinly don't give a hoot about the fans , because they know some , probably not many byt some will buy the tickets becauase they think Tyson is on the show , when all along hardcore fans , and THEM know it can't happen when your 8 stone overweight and suspended . .
Really i feel sorry for Parker he's worked hard to get in this position , been willing to fight anyone , and this is what he gets instead of a crack at the golden goose AJ

Thought they'd have paired it up with Saunders or Flanagan, but my doubt is they can't do that without PPV, and it wouldn't get too many buys, even with all three. I expect the card to be strong in terms of entertainment but short in quality. English title fights, maybe a British, couple of prospects. Saunders vs Monroe had Dubois & Yarde I noticed.

I have to say Parker has been dealt a bad hand here. I mean you're right, Parker has worked hard, been very generous to his fans, and gone about his early career very diligently. It's a shame that he's been caught up in this cyclone of mess. I really hope for Parker and his fans that this fight carries through and it raises his stock in the UK.coneye wrote:Sort of shows 2 things ,

Trouble is there still seems to be questions about the promotional aspect of the fight. Hughie is listed on Warren's website as a Warren fighter. Warren made purse bids for the cancelled fight and Hughie hasn't fought since. Yet Warren was nowhere to be seen for the press conference, hasn't appeared on any of the promotional releases, and Hennessy is listed as promoting the show along with Duco in all press release and on the Manchester Arena website. In addition, there is no mention of the fight on the BN website despite it being announced some time ago, and Saunders Monroe is on the site.TheGingerBomber wrote:Thought they'd have paired it up with Saunders or Flanagan, but my doubt is they can't do that without PPV, and it wouldn't get too many buys, even with all three. If I was Parker I'd be slightly nervous.

Ah damn, so let me get this right, Tyson is off the card, ffs.
i booked ringside seats and a top class hotel too.

Re: Is the Fury v Parker going to be a hard sell?
Shitloads of tickets left.
They'll be half price or free in the two weeks before.

Heard that Parker skipped a drug test. Says he was on holiday.
Re: Is the Fury v Parker going to be a hard sell?
Anyone who paid money to see this on the basis of seeing Tyson needs their head testing.
Re: Is the Fury v Parker going to be a hard sell?
Harder sell than the McG fight apparently, go figure
Re: Is the Fury v Parker going to be a hard sell?
I believe that's a direct lift from the Hennessy Sports press release.Sklar wrote:You're not exactly selling it to me.the_doctor wrote:It's a fight between a novice who hasn't fought anyone of note against a guy from the other side of the world for a World Title that nobody seems to care about on a channel that hardly anyone subscribes to.
