Did you watch Saturday night main event between Leon Bauer and Tanzanian Tiger Abdalah Paziwapazi? There was twice a standing 8 count in the fourth round that saves Leon Bauer, who was pretty much out. The referee Giustino Di Giovanni
was a total joke. In USA and in matches regulated by WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO there isn't anymore standing 8 count. This fight was for IBF youth title.

I spent five minutes researching this using Google and there have been quite a few pro bouts staged in Germany that allow standing eight counts. BoxRec claims that certain US states allow them also.
Therefore, my guess is that the use of standing eight counts is a regional thing.
Didn't we see a standing eight count in the Holyfield-Cooper bout?

Congrats to Bauer on the victory

I can't see what is your problem on how many forums I would like to post this. I am just interested to see what the people thinks about the situation and to share their experience. The bout was for a IBF title, therefore IBF rules probably must be used. Earlier on the same fight night there was a bout between Ahamd Ali and Sinisa Gambelic. Gambelic was hurt, not so badly, but he was standing and the referee stopped the bout and didn't gave him 8 count. It was 6 rounder and the referee was the German Alex Plumans.Enlightened-One wrote:How many forums do you feel you need to post this to?ogii3 wrote:Did you watch Saturday night main event between Leon Bauer and Tanzanian Tiger Abdalah Paziwapazi? I thought I was being polite, but I was a tad surprised about how much effort you'd gone to in order to seek the answer to your question. I wasn't trying to insult you, it's just a bit unusual to see someone go to such extreme lengths that's all (such as posting the very same question to lots of different boxing forums). Apologies if I've offended you.ogii3 wrote:I can't see what is your problem on how many forums I would like to post this. Didn't I answer your question though? I did research the answer prior to providing it?

Thanks for your opinion. If two is " lots of different boxing forums" and extreme, then let it be like that. I was just browsing around to see the view of boxing fans. Nothing more. Cheers!Enlightened-One wrote:I thought I was being polite, but I was a tad surprised about how much effort you'd gone to in order to seek the answer to your question. Thanks for posting. Not only does the referee issue two standing eights,
he also stops the action (between the two standing eight counts) and separates
the boxers when Bauer is hurt, but doesn't count??
I'm curious how the judges scored this round: 10-7 for Paziwapazi?
