Mesi returns Saturday

Joe Mesi will be having his first fight in over 2 years on Saturday, according to reports he will be fighting Ronald Bellamy, the match is in Puerto Rico, so i'm not sure if Mesi is allowed to box in the US.

I'm still not happy seeing Mesi back in the ring, i suppose he must have passed medical checks to get his licience back, but this is a guy that has had bleeding of the brain, that should have got him banned for his own safety. What i find slightly unbelivable is that its Mesi's Dad that is his biggest caller to get his son back in the ring.

Jack Mesi is even trying to say that Joe's situation is similar to when Muhammad Ali was suspended from boxing, some sort of conspiricy. here what jack had to say.

“They can’t do that to people — even if they are boxers. It’s illegal to suspend people,” Jack Mesi said.

“They’ve been doing it for so many years and have ruined so many lives — like (Muhammad) Ali’s suspension and (Mike) Tyson going to jail. I have my suspicions about why their livelihoods were taken away illegally.

“They messed with the wrong boxer this time,” Jack Mesi added.

Good Luck to him, i'm sure they have done all the relevant procedures etc, so if they say he's safe to box then i'm happy for him to come back.

There is no way they would have cleared him to box unless he was not in danger. Hopefully all will go well. Will be interesting to see what shape he is in, he was never the most ripped even when he was active.

Mesi wasn't looking that great in his last couple of fights, he barely scrapped through against Jirov and Barrett, think he has some serious stamina problems after the 7th round

I would imagine being cleared to box in Puerto Rico is somewhat easier than the US. $10 would probably have got Mesi an abortion too.

His father sounds delusional.

Who'd want to fight this guy with Bleeding on the brain Hanging over him this is a big risk fight.
Imagine being the guy who finally killed Messi (even though damage might already have been done).
If i were a pro i wouldn't touch this guy.

Jack Mesi sounds more dangerous than any of his son's opponents.

The reason Mesi can apply for a new licence is because a Nevada boxers licence expires on december 31st of an issuing year, a boxer's licence cannot be medically suspended beyond that date due to the lack of a licence.

it blames Mesis injuries on an illegal punch that Jirov threw in that fateful fight. The first knockdown i think though personally i don't think that that was an illegal punch at all....

Too much is made of the first KD in the Jirov fight. The punch was illegal, but not intentionally. Jirov threw a body shot, followed by a head shot, which just happened to land towards the back of the head. It sounds like team Mesi are making excuses, and blaming this whole situation on that one foul. I'm sure baby joe has been hit by many a foul shot in his career, it happens.

I won't be wanting to see him fighting, i would cringe everytime he took a headshot. As Nick says it is unlikely he would be passed fit to box anywhere if he was in serious danger, but still it makes me a bit uneasy to know he is carrying on.
