Charles Martin wins again..

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Former IBF heavyweight world champion “Prince” Charles Martin (25-1-1, 23 KOs) laid out Mike Marrone (21-8, 15 KOs) in the first round on Tuesday night at the Rapides Coliseum in Alexandria, Louisiana. This was Martin’s second appearance since losing the world title to Anthony Joshua.

This is not a surprise. Michael Marrone has been knocked out in his last four fights in the first or second round.

Possible having easy fights cus he has been out a while and got shot last year. I think maybe one more easy fight, the he might start fighting contenders. HW division has a lot of names he could fight, a lot of guys making noise.

I was there. Marrone didn't put up much of a contest.

Glad Martin's staying active tbh after he went a bit off the rails last year.

I ran into Lamon Brewster last night at this card. Pictures resolution kinda sucks, but I got a pic with him. Chatted him up for a few minutes. Sergio Mora too, but I didn't get a pic with him. Didn't think to ask.

I'll never forget the pre fight interview with him and AJ.
I walk this earth like a god!

And AJ is jamming his fist in his mouth to stop laughing. Bless his humble heart :OhYes:

He's just fighting corpses, which isn't unusual during a comeback trail, but it also isn't any of our concern. Until he fights someone in the top 50, what he does doesn't matter.

That's cool as hell. Is Sergio Mora an ass? He comes off like one. Just speculation on my part, though.

I've gotten compliments on the hat, and criticisms of the hat. I can live with 'em anyway. I got a bald spot in the center of my head, and the rest of my hair is pretty long and shaggy...I figured a hat was the better call

I don't like Baseball caps so I pursue hats with a different look to them. I'll get some different ones, but I like the one I got here.

I only talked to him for a few minutes, but no he wasn't an ass. Not to me at least. I asked him if he planned on fighting again and he said yes he planned on fighting again most likely by the end of the year. He also said Jacobs was the hardest hitter he'd ever faced. Among other things.

No reason for Martin to fight bums who'll fall and take the count as soon as they get hit... They only fight for the check and have no pride.

I hate to see muggings or or lay downs... That's what mismatches give you... Boxing needs to do away with flagrant, record padding mismatches.

Having been there I can tell you the guy definitely didn't Lay down, he was knocked down hard. But it was most definitely a mismatch. He was initially slated to face Justin Jones who also faced an overmatched opponent on the card. It would've been a hell of a lot more interesting if Martin and Jones had fought each other.

"Initially slated" eh? ... A likely story... Generally in Boxing contenders fight non-contenders, so they're not taking risks while they wait for a title fight. And non-contenders fight no-hopers so they're not taking chances while they wait for a contender to fight them. Nobody wants risk. In this case you had a contender skipping over the non-contenders to fight a no-hoper. A guy who was going out very early whether he tried to fight or not.

I don't think you should overmatch yourself whatever your grade... I just think you need to take reasonable risks so people can see contests and not "warm-ups" "tune-ups" "stay-busy fights" and all the other excuses they have for deceiving the public into thinking an actual fight is happening.
