I always thought this guy would know when to get out of the game. However, I just caught his ESPN interview prior to Rahman vs Toney and it seemed clear that he was going to fight again.... but not just the once, but he seemed open to fighting for the foressable future.... even mentioned a return to Heavyweight to challenge Valuev.
Everything was "if the money was right" but I was definately concerned that we will see him get beaten badly for years to come. Didn't even seem to acknowledge that his best years were behind him.
Yeah I always thought Roy would get out at the right time to. Seemed so concerned about Mcclellans plight and not wanting the same thing to happen to him. However Roy has a massive ego. Its bad when he would rather say Tarver would have always given him problems rather then to admit his decline.
Bit of a frightening scenario Bollox but i understand the sentiment, Roy should get out now while he still can. You would have thought he would no when to quit given the McClellan situation
Fighters are always the last to know. Its worrying how many carry on when they really dont need to! I always though Jones was too smart for that but seemingly not. In his case I think his huge ego just wont accept that he's not the same fighter he once was. How many more times does he have to be KO'd or coast through a 12 round fight to realise its all over?
How could he beat Valuev? He barely throws punches anymore. I don't see it. The Jones that beat Ruiz could beat Valuev, but he is far removed from that.
I agree that Jones should quit, and should have after he got kayoed by Tarver. If he fight Calzaghe (or any other top fighter for that matter) he will get his arse kicked badly. The guy is shot
