Antonio Margarito vs. Carson Jones on September 2
BS.com has been advised by Sergio Diaz, the long-time co-manager of Antonio Margarito (40-8, 27 KO's), that his fighter will be facing Carson Jones in Chihuahua, Mexico on September 2nd.
For Margarito, who faced Jorge Paez Jr. and Ramon Alvarez in his return to the ring in 2016, this is a fight that his manager strongly suggested.
Diaz explained - "He needs to get into a real fight, he can't keep fighting guys like Paez Jr.,he's a smaller guy, and 'Canelo's brother. I mean, c'mon, we know what type of opponents they were. So he needs to get into a real fight. Mexico wanted to do a rematch with Paez Jr."
It was at that point that Diaz had a heart-to-heart discussion with his fighter.
"I was telling Tony,'what do you want to do? Do you want to continue fighting rematches with Paez Jr and everybody is going to laugh and write bad things about it. If you want to just fight and make this kind of money, over $200,000 a fight, you can fight five times and make over a million dollars. Are you looking to hopefully get a big fight? What do you want to do?"
Margarito agreed with Diaz and various names in the top ten at 154 were submitted to promoter Fernando Beltran, who was unable to secure any of those boxers but eventually Jones, who has earned a reputation as a solid pro, was tabbed for the assignment.
"If he can't beat a Carson Jones, there's no way he should be in the ring with guys who are even better than him. So Toney said,'OK, let's do this."
For Margarito, this is a way to validate what many believe is an ill-advised comeback.

I'm also not interested in the slightest... MargaCheato is a piece of sh!t who should never be allowed to box again since he plastered his wraps.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Impractical Poster wrote:Not a bad scrap.![]()

I love what Shane Mosley did to Margo when he found out Margo tried murder him with plaster.

Hopefully Jones manages to slip an aluminum bat into the ring, starts by busting the sewer slime's kneecap and proceeds to beat him into a Tijuana puddle of feces.

The level of smack talk here is effin brilliant.
Maybe Mex and Saad could write some hard zingers for the Mayweather-McGregor circus.

You're embarrassing yourself. I knew you weren't that bright, but continually bringing up a thread where you prove it is next level stupidity. Congrats on that.Mexi-Box wrote:I'm the kind of guy that's always right, and keep my username out your comments.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:You know Mex is an "I could care less" kind of guy.gb wrote:I don't not get the double negatives from Saad...

He'd have even less a chance than he has in boxing knowledge. Conor is an extremely live dog compared with mexi-wrong competing with me at life. He's not even Mexican.SenorPipino wrote:The level of smack talk here is effin brilliant.

Re: Antonio Margarito vs. Carson Jones on September 2
I wouldn't say it's damaging his reputation (Margarito) fighting on after he's retired in the past, but fight's like this don't really set up too much for him after all is said and done, is this just really another build up fight for him or more for his promoter to say he has a former world champion fighting on his shows ?
Carson jones with all due respect, his big win last year was for the WBC international silver title against another boxer with a record of 9-0-1, prior to that he fought against two journey men (5-23-1 & 8-31-4) And i'm not knocking journeymen fighters but if these are the guys your next opponent has been fighting. is that really something to worry about for someone like Margarito who has been in the ring against real monsters at the world level in his career?
To give an accurate comparison, in 2016 Margarito fought: Paez Jr. (39-7-2) & Ramon Alvarez (23-4-2), two people who really have a world more experience then either of Jones's last opposition and are a stiffer test for Margarito.
Looking at the people they've been beating recently I can easily say Antonio Margarito is the favourite in this fight, what it sets up afterwards though I really have no idea. I don't see him fighting Lara, Hurd, either of the Charlo brothers. The best (And I mean very best) this could set up is maybe a fight for the Vacant/Interim WBO world title against the winner of Liam smith and Liam Williams later the same month.

The comma makes it easier for the common dullard to understand.
I've never watched the Simpsons but the saying is pretty easy to comprehend.
Margarito is a scumbag, lowest of the low.

I would say I'm shocked anyone wouldn't get it, but considering the source. Never watching the Simpsons is borderline criminal. Unless you hate laughing.Prediction...Pain wrote:I'm not, not interested...

Margarito should be in jail. I can't believe the piece of shit is still boxing. He should have had a lifetime ban when they caught him at the Mosley fight.
