Will you be paying for PPV's?
Will you be paying for PPV's?
I'll be purchasing both fights like I normally do for the usual fear that something amazing might happen and it will be the one PPV I don't buy. I don't see how the GGG/Canelo fight doesn't end up being super entertaining and worth the money. I don't really see how Floyd/Conor fight could be entertaining because of the skill difference in that fight so i'm going in with expectations low. Since i'm always wrong, the opposite will most likely happen but either way, i'll be dialed in and pay the man for both fights.
If you had to make a decision right now, how will you be handling the PPV's coming up and why?

I'd like to think I'd buy neither, but I'm sure I'll get both and the UFC in between.

Re: Will you be paying for PPV's?
I spend more when I go out anyway, but those $300+ cable bills really piss me off when I'm paying them. I've always been odd like that, a $300 dinner/bar tab doesn't make me blink but if my girl is trying to get me to buy myself a $50 shirt? The cheap oozes out. I absolutely can't wait to spend my $75 next week. So at least we got 214 in and around this madness.Impractical Poster wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I'd like to think I'd buy neither, but I'm sure I'll get both and the UFC in between.Same here. I need to just stay away from the house if I really don't want to buy these.

It takes major balls to charge for fights at 5 am. Me personally, I'm often blitzing drinks and blow around then so I'd be giddy for live fights, but in general that's pretty brutal. My cable bill would be much lower if that was the time they were on.Stuarty30 wrote:I'm in UK so hopefully GGG v Canelo is on normal Sky or B/Nation. I pick and choose what fights I stay up for nowadays mate. I've seen me get fired in to the drink and the lines and by 4/5am I'm fuckin wankered and end up missing the fightsSaadOffTheDeck wrote:It takes major balls to charge for fights at 5 am. Think I'll stay up for GGG v Canelo but I wouldn't even bother my arse staying up for Floyd fight even if it were free to air.

Last Friday I got demolished during the day at the pool with no lines. Passed out well enough but slept through the night. No piss, overwhelming thirst, nothing. I underestimated how late I was up when I woke up at 6:30 am and drunk dialed this girl I see when I'm in town and 3 of my buddies from back home. Thankfully, the last one answered and told me it wasn't Friday evening.

The way to save money for me on these is to drink a lot. If I don't drink at all, I won't buy, but that's no fun. If I drink a bit, I'll buy both. If I drink a lot and pass out before the cards I'll save money.
Re: Will you be paying for PPV's?
Would'nt pay 20 cents for the circus . Would'nt want to be part of the crowd that encourages promoters -networks -or boxers to charge for a circus act .Just find a stream , and sit back thinking fook you two , you been conned , shouting at the screen go on you clowns you not getting my money
. GGG - Canelo , definetly buy it would be to scared i would'nt get a stream and miss it . Proper boxers having a proper go

Re: Will you be paying for PPV's?
I won't be paying full price for these. I'll go to a restaurant or bar and pay a cover charge which should be much less than paying to watch it at home.
Re: Will you be paying for PPV's?
I don't know how people in Europe do it. I was in Italy a couple months ago and had to set my alarm to watch a fight that was on HBO one night. My head was bobbing up and down...watching my little phone like a pirate with one eye open. Do most European just tape a Vegas fight and watch in the morning and just make sure that they don't see any results of the fight beforehand?Stuarty30 wrote:I pick and choose what fights I stay up for nowadays mate. If I've not stayed up I'll record it and watch it first thing with breakfast. I don't look at my phone or net incase someone has texted me etc...caldo2025 wrote:I don't know how people in Europe do it. I used to stay up for all the big fights. Get some beer and munchies in and make a night of it. I've never set an alarm because I wouldn't get up lol. Nowadays I struggle if I've been up all night plus I have kids who are usually not long getting up after I've just finished watching the fights. I'm only 33 but I'm definitely too old for it now man!
Re: Will you be paying for PPV's?
Stuarty, I just got tired reading that. You've got to be a die hard to make it through that without dozing. I'm in Boston and I bitch about how late the damn main events end up going off (11pm to 12am here) and i'm junk the next day. I'm older than you though so you have that to look forward to. I love fights across the pond in the middle of the day...plus I just love the English guys that call those fights. There's no promoting or bs...they are just all about the fight and the fighters. The way it should be.Stuarty30 wrote:If I've not stayed up I'll record it and watch it first thing with breakfast. Two nearby movie theaters will be showing this fight.
I'm thinking about going to watch this spectacle on the big screen.

Maybe GGG/Canelo, depending on the undercard.
Definitely not the ridiculous McGregor freakshow.

I'm sure I heard BN/BT are making GGG/Canelo PPV...
Also I think I'm getting old, I could stay up for boxing and the UFC every time last year, every time I wanted to. Now I get super fornicating tired, gonna have to demolish a few cuppas on Sat for DC vs Jones 2.

Alternatively, go to a fight party one of your wealthier friends is throwing.
Usually they won't charge you a dime and supply beer, pizza, snacks of all kinds, and a terrific atmosphere if the fight is any good. The chintzier ones will plead poverty and charge everybody a $10 to $20 donation -- but still way cheaper than spending $100 on such a possibly disappointing fight like you may have done for May-Pac -- and handing your money over to Floyd "Money" Mayweather and Conor "Money" McGregor.

It's rare that I stay up now for the vegas/west coast fights. Too late. I have still done the odd one. Brook vs Porter, Mayweather vs Pacquaio. I fully expect ggg vs canelo to be great but it's too late. I'll catch that next day.
I still stay up for the MSG/east coast fights. It's late but not too bad

Re: Will you be paying for PPV's?
Some of the movie theaters in the U.S. such as Cinemark will be showing Mayweather vs. McGregor. I don't know how much tickets will be, but they should be a lot less than $100.
