The fights a sham but I've enjoyed some of the build up. McGregor is a crazy bastard

BUT something does spring to mind , a few years ago . we had this guy a good pro , come into our gym to train , he was fighting on a card , against a well known world champ , I'm not gonna mention names , i never will on the net ,

Anyway he had 3-4 nights left before the fight and his trainer said to me , i' would like him to just move around for a couple of rnds before saturday night , can he move around with them two guys , the two guys being the only ones left in the gym everyone else had gone home , I said yeh no worries , he can move around with him , being my son who was a good ameteur with 80 odd fights under his belt , but we'll give the other one a miss , he's a beginner and does'nt know too much .

His trainer said , Oh don't worry about him , we'll look after him he spars the ameteurs all the time at home , ( the states ) . I said i'm not worried about him , i'm worried about your guy , he laughed and said , thought you said he's had no fights , i said he's not , but he's a very strong lad , tough has teak , and very agressive , , he just swings and gets very wild he does everything he's not supposed to and throws from everywhere , this kid was a wild bugger , , the trainer laughed and said , don't worry he'll be alright ,,

So i said Jimmy you want to have a spar with him ,, fook yeh he said , could'nt wait to get in , have a go and then go tell his mates , who he sparred ,, anyway , my son jumped in , they done a very light , very technical couple of rnds , a joy to watch

Jimmy was watching from the side lines , that eager to get in you would of thought he was waiting for his first shag , his turn come and i said to him , very light Jimmy just move around and jab , its only to get this guy loose , Yeh ok , he says , well has son has he took a jab in the face he lost it , and fooking run at this guy with his arms flaying like windmills , he caught the guy on the eye and split it ,, within 20-30 seconds , they had him out of there and were worried to death about his up coming fight and his split eye ,, ,,, remember well the trainer having a go at my kid , and i had to step up and tell him no get stuffed it was your fault i warned you he was a novice and beginners don't know the book and don't box by the book .

Now we all know Floyd can box the ears of a boxer , my suspision is he's not gonna meet a boxer he's gonna meet a Jimmy ,, still reckon its a mismatch , but when i think back on Jimmy i smile and think , i hope so .
It's a nice insight and a good story.

But surely the point is if everyone thinks it's a light spar to get loose and one lad goes for it, then that's a very different scenario to a fight? I don't doubt for a second that Mayweather may meet a wild, strong, desperate, eager, gonna tell all his mates what he's done Jimmy - but Mayweather is entirely ready for that eventuality.

Your correct , and it would be silly to think Mayweather will expect anything else , myself like the rest of the world thinks this is going to be a mismatch , a walkover , but Conors only chance is to throw caution to the wind and go for it .. which is'nt a great observation by myself , the rest of the world thinks the same . What i am pointing out is that there is a difference between a pro boxer with good skills putting it on you , and a complete novice who's bigger and probably stronger , who does'nt even know let alone care what he's throwing , When do you think Mayweather would of last sparred guys at this level , probably 20 years ago . Mayweather should take him out easily , myself i see some sort of disqualification coming , and mgregor challenging him to be a man and fight in the cage next time .

i saw something very similar ,but it was a reopened cut on someone that was not too far away from a commonwealth title fight .the lad that did it was from a university amateur boxing club that came in for sparring for while to get their lads some experience ,hadn't had any fights but was technically very good from what i saw. someone thought he had been taking liberties with a lightweight pro he was sparring ( the amateur lad would have been at least a middleweight ) though i thought he was just trying to keep the lightweight off him as the wee man worked at a crazy mental pace and walked through what the bigger lad landed several times,so the super middleweight went in to put a few on him and ended up cut in the process even though they had both been told to take it easy.

i am of the mind mayweather does whatever he wants in this "fight". the only thing most people have in the back of their minds is there are no guarantees of every fight going to script every time.

It's potentially going to the gambling script, but we don't know what that is. The liquidity in this fight's gonna be astronomical, and for that reason I won't be touching it.

The sad thing is people will pay through the nose to see this spectacle between Mayweather and McGregor and a real boxing match between two of the worlds elite won't get the attention it deserves.

Hopefully the fight will still get the attention it deserves after the hype train behind the spectacle fight passes by and GGG and Alvarez get a chance to shine in their own right.
