Tom Byers, the pacemaker who hung on at the Bislett games and beat Steve Ovett in the metric mile (early 1980's) is an upset that I fondly cherish.
I was only 8 at the time. Either there was not much else to do back then or 8 year old kids these days have different interests. Doubt many 8 year olds today know the name of any metric mile runners.
Good old Byers the rabbit, clung on like a rancid fart and got his 15 minutes of fame. Ended up broke and taking short notice scat porn gigs to keep the vultures from the door.
Ovett O.B.E, Lord Coe, Sir John Walker and Scatman Byers. The injustice is profound.

I think people are getting far to carried away with this fight.
Clearly Mayweather wasn't ever coming back to face a dangerous boxer. Mayweather & Conor is a freakshow fight & being marketed as such with the whole Boxing vs. MMA angle. Its a silly fun fight, no more no less. For Mayweather its the most profitable fight with the least risks.
Mayweather should win this handily.
HOWEVER over his last couple of fights he has clearly slowed down & spent more time against the ropes taking shots than in his previous fights. He's forty years old, Conor's only 29. He hasn't fought in two years, during which Conor has fought four times. Also is Floyd taking Conor seriously & putting the training in?
Conor knocking out Aldo in 13 seconds is a great example of Conor getting under people's skin & making a normally cautious fighter fight wildly & also of Conor's technical ability. Watch the video of him backstage prior to the fight practising the exact punch that he catches Jose with. Obviously he's nowhere near the level that Floyd was at not claiming that, but he can throw a punch & in boxing there's always that infamous puncher's chance. IF Floyd has slowed down or aged dramatically over those two years then Conor MIGHT catch him & Conor does hit hard.

McGregor beating Mayweather would be a big upset, but price-wise he's around 6/1 to win the fight. Floyd could twist his ankle, he could get caught by a daft punch, he could genuinely have regressed more than expected bearing in mind he's now in his 40's and not fought in two years. I don't think he will lose, I don't expect him to have any serious trouble, but those things could happen.
Leicester were 5,000/1 to win the league and as an event it's not even a once in a lifetime job. It's a once in history occasion.
