Incredible Mayweather-McGregor Betting Odds!

Post by Enlightened-One »

In terms of the betting odds for the Mayweather-McGregor fight, ‘bet365’ rate Floyd as being 85.7% certain (1/6) to defeat Conor, with the Irish underdog having an implied probability of just 20% (4/1) to emerge victorious.

Just to place some context on these numbers should you fancy placing a bet on the Mayweather-McGregor fight…

If you placed a £10 bet with ‘bet365’ on Mayweather to defeat McGregor you’d only make £1.60 profit. Place precisely the same bet on his opponent and you’d potentially profit by £40.

Strangely though, McGregor has been rated as having a better chance to defeat Mayweather Jr. than the likes of the following underdogs did for their fights:
• Chavez Jr. versus Canelo
• Jacobs vs. Golovkin
• Ruiz Jr. vs. Parker
• Brook vs. Golovkin

That should tell you how much the mainstream casual fight fans currently rate Conor’s chances of defeating Floyd Mayweather Jr.! :o

However, I reckon as the hype begins to build for this highly-lucrative circus event, as more-and-more fictional stories are gradually and intentionally leaked to the media, the casual mainstream fans will inevitably buy into the idea that McGregor is truly capable of defeating Mayweather Jr, which means that Conor’s betting odds will shorten significantly come fight night... as per the steady and significant decline that we've already seen happening over recent weeks.

Therefore, if you’re interested in making some money from Floyd’s dead-cert victory over Connor McGregor, I’d advise you to place your bet at the very last-minute, since you'd earn far more money betting on a Mayweather Jr. victory than you could possibly gain from the interest you'd receive by leaving your money in your bank account, with either option considered as equally safe investments. :TU:

It's times like these I definitely wish I lived near Nevada. I'd be dropping a significant bet on Mayweather for this.

Online betting always seems too dodgy to me.

To put it in sadder perspective, novice McG is given a better chance to upset Mayweather than the talented Julius Indongo has of toppling Terence Crawford.

Crawford is a lopsided 10-1 favorite to pummel the undefeated Indongo in a super lightweight unification fight.

But as Enlightened-One reported, P4P great Mayweather is only a 6-1 choice over a guy who has never won a boxing match in his life. Some books have Mayweather as little as a 4-1 pick.

Go figure.

I wouldn't say stupid so much as people don't know Boxing... They've seen McGregor making millions of dollars in fights where he uses his fists to hit people and knock them unconscious...and he's 29 years old... Floyd is 40 years old... McGregor is practicing every day with professional boxers for months leading up to the fight... They look at the odds... They assess the size and apparent physical strength of the 2 fighters... They look at Floyd's demeanor and recent KO record at 147 and 154... They say, "Hmmm...why is Mayweather such a big favorite here? He sounds a little flummoxed and intimidated. Conor sounds stone cold confident and he's predicting he'll smash Floyd unconscious in 4 rounds... Let me take a flyer on this one."

That's why the odds keep getting better on a Floyd bet... It's the way people think... They skim the surface like they do when they vote for a president.

For Sports betting as far as I know it's only legal in 1 state, and yes there are states where any sort of Gambling is illegal.

After one quite recent fight where one unnamed fighter had a fight against another unnamed fighter in Vegas I would not bet any money on any fight that happens there. I still get this burning sensation in my balls when I remember that one

Before betting the house I would go and check the following fights.

Ward vs Kovalev (both)
Fury vs Cunningham
Wlad vs Brewster
Vitali vs Byrd
Direll vs Uzcategui
Rigondeaux vs Flores
Browne vs Chagaev

I also happen to know one boxer that went to fight in another boxers backyard. They slipped some antidepressant meds on him. The normally active and energized boxer looked like heavy bag that night. Nasty stuff and will not be detected in doping tests.

Always remember to only gamble on money that you can afford to loose :geek:

I wouldn't bet on any injury prone or old boxer, or one who is a huge favourite.

Mayweather should win this easily. He should be a 99.9% odds on favourite. But he's old and his hands could give up at any moment. You'd have to bet really big to get a decent return and then it's just too risky.

For an investment that even you admit to being a 99.9% certainty, you'd currently make a 16% ROI immediately, which is pretty impressive (a bug return for a relatively small risk).

The manner in which McGregor's betting odds are shortening daily, placing a bet of Floyd could provide an ROI approaching 25% come fight night.

For sure, there's a risk on betting money on any sporting event that only requires a one punch KO for the underdog to defy the odds, but in terms of boxing, the outcome of the Mayweather-McGregor bout is as much of a "sure thing" as you're ever likely to get.

All true, but a McGregor win would be a bigger shock than Ali v Foreman or Douglas v Tyson.

Meanwhile the McGregor mindgames go on.

Its difficult to tell whether he believes he has a chance or is only selling the fight. Its amazing how even a small bet can make anything vastly more interesting. Then there's the adrenaline kick you get from gambling.

Dangerous, not for the weak- willed like myself. I tried it for a while and was a nervous wreck.

Well, it is a British website and there probably are a lot of Irish people voting on the poll.

So who do the gambling syndicates need to win? Who are they setting the odds to profit from? Like in Pacquiao one Vegas insider said before the fight they needed Floyd to win by decision to profit, and if Pac won they'd lose huge sums. Voila ... Floyd won on points.

Now we need to find out who the Vegas insiders "need" to win to profit.

The fact that these odds are close is suspicions. Floyd should be a 100-1 favorite at least. 4-1 is INSANE. Looks like the fix could be in for the Floyd dive. If Floyd dives, there will be a lot of pissed off gamblers. "You live by the dollar you die by the dollar."

Well, with the odds it could never be a small risk as you wouldn't make enough money for it to be worth it. And with an older boxer with brittle hands it's always a big risk to bet on them, imo. I'd be more worried of an injury to Mayweather than him being knocked out. There's more value in the method of victory than an outright victory.

The gambling syndicates don't care who wins. As long as people play they will make profit. That's the way the odds are made.

Other parties might still be interested on fixing the fight...

I just don't believe that Floyd would be part of any fix. He makes loads of cash anyway and wont need to risk getting caught. He is also way too interested on hes legacy to take dive.

You're so naive I can't believe it...

What could Floyd possibly gain by taking a dive??? The man is super rich and the risk of consorting with gamblers is you might get caught.. Your reputation is then ruined and whatever ill gotten gains have to be paid back along with fines and maybe your promotional license being revoked -- a job where you could potentially make 100's of millions of dollars as you built the business... It wouldn't happen in a million years.

Conor throwing the fight??? Nobody expects him to win anyway.. He'll shock the world if he even makes it an interesting and exciting fight. Asking McGregor to throw the Mayweather fight is like asking Bryant Jennings to throw the Luis Ortiz fight -- so I assure you both boxers will do their level best -- even though it will probably be a vain effort on the part of Conor McGregor..

But I think McGregor is going to enjoy himself no matter what happens.. It's not like he hasn't gotten the living sh!t beaten out of him before.. This time the whole world is watching and he's making a 100 million.. Whatever he does positive will be a big surprise.. He has quick reflexes and he can read punches coming at him.. He can also throw punches.. He'll have a basic stance, all the weapons and basic defense.. Can you imagine if he wins a round??? They'll blow the roof off the place.. Conor is in a good position.. He can't lose for losing..

"Floyd.. Did you expect such a tough fight???" ... "My hat's off to Conor McGregor. He's a tough competitor. He's a World Champion Fighter. As I told everybody for months, I was sure this was going to be a very tough fight for me. I'm just thankful to get the victory, I'm 50-0."

"Conor.. You did far better than anyone expected." ... "No I didn't. I expected to knock Floyd out in 4 rounds but the chickenshlt kept running. I don't know what the judges were looking at.. Ask the fans who they thought won the fight.. Read the newspapers tomorrow.. I'm challenging Floyd to a rematch."

All part of the ruse to make this seem like a close fight.

Every angle has been covered and Mcg is doing well stoking the flames of the personal attacks on May and jawing with Draymond Green on instagram. The more ways and avenues to expose the fight the better for them. They are selling this fight in many different ways. Its smart. Yes people are stupid but people are also bored! This gives the average dullard something to "be part of."

Floyd is dead as a draw. Boxing in USA is dead outside of Canelo vs GGG and we don't know if that will sell to meet projections. Ward vs Kov I and II both proved boxing in USA is dead. The well has run dry on Floyd. McGregor is the Future. Floyd needs the $ to pay off the IRS. That's a FACT. The only way to make serious $ is to fight McGregor. McGregor and White know it and they got Floyd by the you know whats. Floyd vs Spence or Khan would not make enough to pay Floyd's huge fee. Floyd is cornered and desperate and McGregor is his only hope to get out of IRS debt. All great boxers get sacrificed at the end. Some can escape some retire and avoid it. Floyd has to bite the bullet.

I saw on msn.com a couple of days ago that Mayweather was selling a used Bugati car online for about 2 million dollars. I guess "Money" needs money. msn took the link to the car ad off their website after a day, so maybe it was sold. The car looked nice. I think it was a 2011.
