Hatton vs Magarito?

Hatton mentioned Antonio Magarito @ yesterday's press conference along with others fighters @ 147lbs.

What do you guys think of a possible showdown between the two.

IMO, this would a high-risk fight for Hatton. Magarito has some SERIOUS power, and in the month's Boxing Monthly, it's reported that Magarito weighs close to light-heavy limit when he steps in the ring?

IMO, Hatton would have to fight such a good fight in order to win. No recklessness, defense would have to be razor-sharp etc.

What do you fellas reckon?

Margarito is not a fighter you want to take on unless you really have to, which golden boy Hatton doesn't: he can take his pick really.

The Mexican is a monster: big, fast, hard punching and good chin.
Is RH really a genuine welterweight? Is he as good at 147 as he is at 140?

Good big man beats a good little man and I reckon it'd be a step too far for Ricky this one.

I dont think Hatton should consider this until he has had 2 or 3 fights at the weight and got used to it. Margarito is a huge welter.

Margarito is a fighter who likes to throw a lot of punches but has a pretty static head and takes a few on the chin. Being a tall, lean guy as well Hatton could target the body. One thing is for certain it would be a tear up, but isn't Margarito campagning at Light Middleweight from now on?

Margarito would be too much even for a peak Hatton. Very, very good fighter.

Not sure there is too much between them ability wise BC but it's the size of Margarito that make a massive difference, Margarito has the jab and range to keep Hatton at bay as well. All in all i wouldn't be pursuing this fight if i was Hatton.

Think this would be a silly fight to take unless he had already beaten someone of the like of Mayweather. Margarito is big even for a Welter, and Hatton is a short and stocky fighter. He'd be giving away height, reach and for the first time in his career weight too.

Margarito really bangs too, hard enough to put floyd off fighting him....

i agree that hatton would only need to fight margarito had he something to prove against him ie. margarito held a belt or had beaten floyd before hatton. However i think people underestimate hatton's boxing ability because he's got alot going for him between his ears. He would know how to fight margarito imo n could take his style to his own advantage. I just dont think the fact that hatton is a relatively little man at welter will matter because of his style. However the best fights for him would be after collazo to face the winner of gatti/baldomir and 2 wins would mean 2 belts and hed have the upper hand on the winner of zab/floyd.

Great matchup for a big big tear up.
Both Relentless fighters who are prepared to get hit
so they can land their bombs.
I'd pay to see this fight no problem, But Hatton had better think about this one 'cause it will be a war!

I think Margarito is overated, but stylewise is all wrong for Ricky.

Great fight though.

If Hatton does win vs Collazo and remains a Welterweight, he'd be up against some pretty mean champions.

The weakest of whom still should be considered THE champion (Gatti vs Baldomir winner)

Exactly. I think that is the point. Casually throw names about at a press conference, makes people think you are really hungry. That's not to say Hatton isnt, but it just reinforces peoples' belief that he is up for it big style. Then when it comes to the crunch he actually fights others. Just keeps the interest up. That is my take on it, anyway.
