I've always been objective with these things, though everyone likes to think they are. Granted, Holyfield is my second favorite fighter ever. LOL, also a big fan of Jones and Whitaker. I despised Manny and Floyd and they would be in the top 3 with Whitaker on my list. Our guys on the bottom, though I'm old as dirt so Roy wouldn't make a top 10 of my lifetime when guys like Duran, Leonard, Hearns and Hagler come into play.squiggy wrote:I know what you're saying, I just really enjoy the illusion of objectivity about these things. He'd rate as shot to peices, unless McGregor has suddenly transformed into a superboxer.

Prime Roy was touched by Lou Del Valle... and knocked on his ass... A lot of guys have never been knocked on their ass.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Roy is definitely top 50 imo ... At his best, he seemed as untouchable as anyone I've ever seen. That much I agree with.

Mayweather's rating will drop like a rock to those that hate him, and/or don't know much about boxing. To everyone else he won't.

I was back home seeing the Mrs the other weekend and went to town sex wise. I was limping coz my cock was sore the next day. Anymore weekends like that and my wee peas will barely be noticeable so there's no chance I'll successfully teabag myself. I'd probably put my bag out tryingTomasino wrote:Stuarty30 wrote:Nobody wants to see that man. That shít would get the Internet bannedbigjack wrote:

Tell you what pisses me off ... some of the MMA fans trying to make out their Number 1 is fighting our (boxing) Number 1.

Conor isn't #1.

Would moreso make boxing look worse but I'm not sure it could be seen much lower than it already is. RIP Boxing, either way.

Boxing people aren't giving McGregor ANY chance in HELL, except the boxers who spar with him because they're getting paid really good. They're not going to dis their boss. The MMA people are giving Conor a Hell of a shot. Their argument is that Floyd isn't used to punches coming at him from unorthodox angles and Conor is going to use his feet (for footwork) a lot more than Floyd is used to, and Floyd will run into something -- a punch he's never seen before.. And Floyd gets hit with straight lefts and southpaw left hooks.. He hasn't fought any incredibly deceptive punchers.
Remember Sugar Ray Robinson fighting Ralph Jones??? ... Robinson was 33 but had one fight in 2 years.. Jones had 5 straight losses and was a massive underdog.. One of they guys who beat Jones was 11-6 for his entire career.. But Jones was confident for Robinson, "I've watched Robinson fight before. People give him too much room. If you stay on him and keep throwing combinations like Turpin did - that's how you beat him. And that's my style." ... Basically Jones stayed on top of Sugar Ray and ran him out of the ring. Robinson was never able to set himself because he had to keep moving. I don't think it was ring rust so much as Robinson's style of fighting that fit Ralph Jones like a glove. SRR was a much better fighter, Jones just was the wrong guy for him to fight.
Who would be the wrong guy for Floyd to fight??? ... Judging from their sparring sessions Errol Spence -- who's a tall, fast southpaw with great power.
If Conor McGregor won it would be like Max Schmeling beating Joe Louis... Everyone knew they were fighting and nobody gave Schmeling a chance... even though he was only a 10/1 underdog.. Louis's propensity to drop his left hand when he jabbed lined up well with Schmeling's terrific counter right.Evander wrote:Tell you what pisses me off ... some of the MMA fans trying to make out their Number 1 is fighting our (boxing) Number 1.

This thread is specifically the effects on his position as a boxer all time and this generation, not simply what if it happens.Controversial wrote:There is a thread on this already
