Crawford vs Indongo

Post by marvelous marv »

5 belts will be unified by one fighter. I know I am in the minority but I think Indongo will give Crawford fits and may ultimately win.

Indongo is big for the weight class, has power, will fight southpaw against crawford, is very aggresive and can counterpunch a counterpunch.

Should be a fantastic fight.

It's gonna be a great fight, Terence Crawford is legit as they come, but Indongo is dangerous; just recently saw some of his training footage and he is sharp and well-schooled..

Glad this fight was made so quickly as Indongo is 34 and won't be in his prime much longer, i doubt age will be a factor in this fight though

Biggest difference maker in this fight will be experience, Crawford has been facing some top opposition against world class opponents, where as Indongo has been mainly fighting journeymen who were scared of him or guys he knocked out easily, with his best names being Troyanovsky and Burns.

Crawford just looks plain better to me. I actually don't think the best names on his record are really that far above Troya and Burns at 140. Burns is arguably still the guy who was 'in' the fight with Crawford for the longest period.

Craw definitely has more fights of note though..

Crawford is better, but Indongo will have a punchers chance. Let us say 80/20 Crawford......

Yep that's what i meant. :TU:

But it's not just having more fights of note but it's also how those fights panned out.

Indongo had no trouble with Troy or Burns, and i don't know if that will help him or hurt him against a guy like Crawford, who is used to working for his wins and breaking guys down bit by bit where as Indongo looks like he barely gets any good work at all.

I too think Crawford is better, and also hope that we see the best of Indongo on fight night :box:

Crawford by beatdown. Indongo could win a round or so while bud sizes him up, then he'll chop him down to the body and get him out of there somewhere around 8 or 9.

I can see Indongo lasting the distance, and possibly being Crawford's most difficult opponent to date, but I'd still favor Crawford by UD.

Indongo is a tall, lanky, awkward guy that can give guys problems even when they're more refined and skilled than him (which Crawford is) because he's so unorthodox and a good bit different from what you'd normally see.

I can see Indongo taking the first few rounds and maybe a few others along the way, but usually once Crawford figures a guy out and finds a way to land it just keeps going his way more and more from there.

I ultimately expect Crawford to come out on top with a UD with scores in the 116-112, 117-111 neighborhood.

His height won't be an advantage against Terrence, just a long and lanky ribcage to plaster.

Maybe but I'm still interested to see how Crawford chooses to deal with Indongo, he's totally different to anyone he's faced so far, I'm still pretty unsure how good Indongo actually is, a 1 punch 1st KO over an undefeated champ and shut out win over a past it Burns who hasn't been world class for a few years now

He could still be a great fighter Indongo

It's a top match up, Crawford is just that great. He's fighting the #2 guy again when most don't ever. I don't think indongo is as good as postol. We'll see.

I remember around 1985 when I refused to consider the IBF a real world title.

Then I remember around 1991 when I said the same thing about the WBO.

I feel like we've made it 25 years stuck on four.....I guess its been a good run.

Hopefully, they will each have enough for a Tesco big shop once all those sanctioning fees have been deducted.

This has a similar feel in the build up to Postol, people making out it's a close fight and giving the opponent a real shot.
Postol is a really good fighter, Indongo is a really good fighter
Crawford is rightly being talked about in the p4p conversation and is a level above anyone at the weight, it'll take an elite fighter or a real lucky shot to beat him

As such I give Indongo a punchers chance and call it a 90/10 fight in Terence's favour

I agree that this has the feel of the Postol fight. The Indongo is on a roll. He has good skills and dangerous power. He is awkward. It is the fight that makes sense at 140 this summer as the Postol fight was last summer.

After Hitman Jr defeats the African, I would enjoy seeing The Indongo v Postol (who hasn't been seen or heard of since his first defeat, that I know of).

What matters is that never happened in boxing history a bout for all 5 belts between 2 undefeated fighters, last 4 belt bout was Taylor vs Hopkins 12 years ago! :yay: :bag:

what do you mean "all"5 belts ? Are we accepting IBO as a recognized world title now ? What about the others like WBF, WBU, IBC and whatever else there is, do we just lay down and accept them all ? Were you this impressed when roy jones defended his 6 "world title" belts when he was light heavy boss ?

Yeah, the IBO is consider the highest of minor bodies and I see it as a soon to be a recognized world title body (between the 4 major ones), so what? So all boxers who achieved it may throw it in the garbage because you say "it is not considered"? So Lara, GGG, Joshua, Rigondeaux, Eubank Jr., Indongo efforts made their path for achieving it for nothing? If it is there, it worth something, even being the highest value of minor boxing bodies, it is as tough as any of the 4 major ones to achieve. Fu.ck you. .l.

That's fair enough but where does it end ? you've got ITV bigging up the IBO and now some fans are giving em credit, all you need is some newbies coming on here and reading that the IBO is legit and then that becomes fact to them, its not good for the game dude is all I'm saying

I don't see a stoppage but I see the more gifted fighter, Crawford, winning a clear decision. Around 9-3, 8-4 ish. I really think it'd be wrong to write off the African as a no hoper

IBO isn't a world title. That's recognised. That's a fact. It's nothing more than a tool to market fights like the Eubanks have taken advantage of. In days gone by itd be a ranking fight for a shot at the title or be somewhere in the mix. Now the phoneys and the wise guys can play it off as a world title fight. It's bollocks. Sure other great champs have been awarded this belt at times during there career, but let's be straight, they fight for the recognised belt and this fake belt is just collateral along the way

Nice, so let's all of us make a protest to take it off as it is fake and many great champions also (have) had it... We were all fooled, damn! :brick: Let's warn them all to not strive for a decorative belt. :witzend:
