The question is best LHW, not best fighter. If that is the criteria than Spinks is the obvious choice. He's a top ten ATG at the weight and the others aren't.

With his height and punching power he was a nightmare at 175 lbs.

Yes, best LHW - prime to prime. Opening this thread, I had a little bity crazy idea to put Holyfield on the list. As I know, he had several fights at LHW in the beggining of his pro-career. I remember him at Olymipics (LA 1984). As a young soldier I had been watching Olympic Games, and remember him as a beast, although he has been DQed, deservedly.
In order to avoid the misunderstanding/mess I did not put Holyfield on this list, although I think he had been a complete fighter in 1984 (or 1985)...

Yes, Holtyfield was a light heavyweight at the beginning in his pro career, but he couldn't make LHW limit and decided to move to cruiserweight.

PS: Holyfield's diqualification was awful, just watch this fight again:

Boxing Writer, I have to admit I was wrong about this DQ, I had seen it on a different way in 1984. I was a young soldier, only nineteen, both ref and gold medalist Josipović were from my (former) country, and it was fcuking patriotic rooting (I dislike/despise patriotic rooting and this kind of excuses)....Better ever than never, I had been wrong about this case (33 years, only)...........

Again, I was wrong.

Thank you. I have to add that I liked Evander very much, and almost always had been rooting for him (only twice, or three times I was neutral - against Lewis 2x and Valuev).......Off topic, again, sorry.........

But spinks beat him twice. You're going against yourself.

In his prime or I will put it this way so you can get an idea where your stuck  ...........is Jeff Horn a better fighter then Pacman he beat a 38 year old man and if Horn wins the rematch is he the better fighter of the two [in your book would he be] ...If Holmes was at his peak of his power's no-way he [Michael Spinks] beats that Larry............Spinks was a LEGEND at Light Heavy not at Heavyweight even you know that

You made an absolute statement,"How does anyone rate Kovalev over Ward when he lost twice too the bloke good one " now you're back tracking away from it. I used Spinks/Holmes because he is part of this discussion, like Ward/Kovalev one of the fights was very controversial and, like ward ,Spinks was in the division for a second. No big deal, you rarely get it. :TU:

Hey Clive, while we're talking about Ward, who wins him vs AJ? I know you have Ward shutting out Calzaghe, battering Usyk, and beating Wilder and Povetkin. In fact, I'm surprised you haven't picked him as the greatest LHW ever

Just like I said about Michael and Larry................If AJ past his best then it would be a possibility but seeing that unlikely that AJ becomes past his best over-night for whatever reason I cannot see Ward beating AJ because his nearing or very close to being in his prime REMEMBER BROTHER WHAT I TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO YOU MATE SAAD EARLIER I WAS A BIT SUPRISED THAT YOU AND SAAD ARE LETTING YOUR GUARD'S DOWN AND KIND OF LET IT SLIP THAT YOU TWO DON'T KNOW AS MUCH AS YOU GUY'S LIKE TO PRETEND YOU DO ABOUT THE NOBLE ART OF BOXING YOU TWO DO KNOW SOMETHING'S ABOUT BOXING JUST NOT A LOT KEEP READING AND SORRY ABOUT CALLING YOU MATE DUMBO I WAS ONLY JOKING YOU TWO DO HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF BOXING KNOWLEDGE IT LIMITED THOUGH         ....... PEACE BROTHER'S

Roy is in my top 10 all time at LHW - no mean feat at all - it's just that Spinks is likely in the top 5. Kov and Cal aren't in the discussion at all; Ward needs to do more before he could be.
