Makes perfect sense to give up the IBF belt. After Collazo, Ricky has probably got 4 or 5 fights left. If he wins against Collazo, he's got bargaining power at welter. PBF is now at welter, Cotto will be at welter very soon. These are the big moneyand "respect" fights that people want.

If he stays at 140, who is there to compare with PBF or Cotto?

Has everyone forgotten what happened to Juan Manuel Marquez?
Now that Ricky is no longer IBF champion, he’s no longer the WBA "Super" Champion.
So he’s obliged to fight the WBA mandatory; does anybody know who that is??

The difference with Marquez was that he was considered dull as dishwater, and had no fanbase. Had he been a draw then the business with the belts would not have mattered a jot, he could have made fights with Barrera, Morales or Pacquaio even without a belt on the line.

He won't have to face his WBA mandatory for a while, but as you say, this could well be the last time we see him at LW.

Just because he's a good fighter, doesn't mean he's a big draw. People would pay to watch Hatton fight, regardless of wether there was a title on the line, as he is an exciting fighter. JMM is the polar opposite of Hatton.

The only time I can remember him being top of the bill in a big fight is Vs Pac-Man, and i'd say the majority of the people there, were there to see Pacquiao. Every other time i've seen him fight, hes been on the undercard of bigger fights, and if it weren't for his tiles I doubt we'd even see him then.

Styles are a matter of personal preference. I agree JMM is the polar opposite of Hatton;
He fights whom he calls out and fights the matches fans want. (Don’t believe what
Briber Bob & his shills tell U, Marquez got screwed out of the 2nd Pacquiao match.)

U are totally wrong on the attendance at his fight with Pacquiao; Mexicans are usually
the predominant group at Las Vegas any time one of them fights. Marquez has a big fan
base in Southern California and the southwest who attend attend the marqee fights in
Vegas. He also has a huge following on the Spanish speaking networks, which by the
way beams throughout Latin America. Add to those appearances, 6 on HBO, once each
on PPV, Showtime & ESPN, 9 on Prime, 5 on Fox and 7 on KCAL Superstation.
Those are facts that your repetitive and subjective reasoning cannot deny.

Let me refresh your memory; Marquez was the mandatory Hamed refused over 5 years
ago for the same old reason U are stating now.

BTW, strictly from a fans point of view; wouldn’t he make a great stand-in for Guzman
