You and Jip are always (or almost always) on the opposite sides, as I can conclude.......
He doesn't know what he's talking about, yet calls himself an expert. He deserves the corrections, seems a nice enough kid though.
"An expert" ?? Do you really believe in the experts, here, on this forum ? I do not think that genuine experts waste their time on forums for the fans..........

There really aren't 'experts' as far as writers anymore. I know more about history than most. Certainly much more than someone like Dan Rafael.

If I considered myself boxing expert, I would give up my job tomorrow, and earn "big money" because of my boxing knowledge.....Of course, I might have the dreams, it is not forbidden.

I hate words like "expert." Beware when someone calls themselves one. I have a general idea what going on today and I'm fairly well versed on HW boxing in the mid 20th century, but I avoid terms like expert or clever. If there was a thread titled "words you hate," expert may be #1.

Listing Sanchez isn't in the spirit of what the OP was talking about, but I can see why he might be worth mentioning - had he carried on the way he going he could've ended up undisputably the greatest Mexican ever and in the mix for top 10 P4P ever. Okay, Bojado, Valero, Williams Jr etc didn't achieve half of what Sanchez did anyway, it's just that their ceilings were arguably not as high as his either.

I guess I should list Eddie Booker and Wesley mouzon because they had to retire from eye injuries. People die in car accidents everyday. I don't recall ever hearing that he was fucked up. Did I miss that? I actually think sal had peaked and he would have lost a Nelson rematch and the rumored arguello fight. He would have butchered Chavez at 130 though.

Unless he was a reckless driver maybe it's unfair to say he "wasted" his potential I suppose. Would give a real chance of taking Arguello imagining he could hold lightweight OK though that's another story.

Marvin Hagler had a hell of a career, but I really think he had a few good years left in him. Wish he would've fought a few more times

Riddick Bowe

Dave Tiberi. Retires from the sport right when things start to get interesting for him

Ricky Womack

Ike Ibeabuchi

Laszlo Papp

And Vitali Klitschko definitely didn't waste his potential, but it saddens me a bit that we lost 4 Years of his prime.

Primo Carnera, considered by some the worst heavyweight champion ever. I wonder how he'd do if he were in his prime in today's society. With modern supplements, coaching, training methods, etc.

Fernando Vargas

Too many Cubans to even name

Aaron Pryor I feel could've done sooooo much more. Still a great career

This was just off the top of my head. I could probably think of so many more. Didn't read the whole thread gonna guess most of these were already named!

I don't think there are many "well paid" Boxing writers. I may be wrong on that, but I'd genuinely be curious to know what some of the biggest names in Boxing Journalism make. It probably ain't as much as you think.

OK, my point is that this is a forum for fans, and there are different kinds of fans. Some of them could be considered something like experts.
I like boxing, and has been following this more than forty years, but I am not an expert.

Haye and Fury are the ones that jump out for me, currently. For awhile there SOGgy would have been right up there. Rigo and TRex Jr. are right there. Beterbiev is threatening to overtake them all.
